War is expensive, so the economic capabilities of a Nation are important when analysing their warfighting capabilities.

Adding to this, economic might is also a thing. You don't need the biggest guns, the largest army to be powerful. Sometimes, economic might works well enough. Influence trade routes, crash markets, inflate prices, bribe armies, fund campaigns, pressure your opponent in terms of resources. Or just bend their wallet to your will. Go the Switzerland route, and become a vault for the rich and have your nation's socioeconomic status boosted, no matter how small you are.
