That walk was one of the most heart-wrenching moments in the game for me. 'Close in the Distance' is a beautiful piece of music in it's own right, but in the context of the journey that brought us to that point in the game the music and the scenario somehow managed to press all the right buttons and I was a sobbing mess by the time I heard Ardbert say "let's finish this".

That part of the story moved me in other ways too. Alisae's pre-sacrifice talk about how the WoL shouldn't be required to bear the burden of fighting alone again - about how we were "more than just a hero, but a friend". And then, not too long later, hearing her beg us not to use the teleportation device that would transport her and the Scions to safety... but left us behind, triggering the very scenario that she feared.
