Asahi pulling the Biggest MVP move ever to put Fandermes in a pit of eternal torment. I couldn't help but applaud the absolute madlad. From most despised to an absolute 100% respect. Talk about the absolute winner of the MSQ.

and people said simps were dumb.

Once in a while. simps can attain greatness.

He's still an absolute garbage person but you have to respect the dedication. He also is one of the few people knowing who we are to tell the WoL to eff off.

Lots of highlights. Probably the one that is the best is when the full version of "Close in the Distance" starts playing in Ultima Thule though.

Yeah. He's absolute garbage, but I respect the hustle. He knows what he's here, he won't get distracted, and he absolutely has no time for us, only his target. Gotta respect that professionalism and dedication to his simping.

And yet Hermes still shows up in the ending with the rest of the 'Amaurot Gang' and the Scions so maybe Asahi's pit of vengenance wasn't so binding after all. :P

Given that Venat was also there and we killed her to atoms, the ending is more just narrative fanservice than anything else. Remember that Krile wasn't in the picture at first, and she's alive.

That walk was one of the most heart-wrenching moments in the game for me. 'Close in the Distance' is a beautiful piece of music in it's own right, but in the context of the journey that brought us to that point in the game the music and the scenario somehow managed to press all the right buttons and I was a sobbing mess by the time I heard Ardbert say "let's finish this".

That part of the story moved me in other ways too. Alisae's pre-sacrifice talk about how the WoL shouldn't be required to bear the burden of fighting alone again - about how we were "more than just a hero, but a friend". And then, not too long later, hearing her beg us not to use the teleportation device that would transport her and the Scions to safety... but left us behind, triggering the very scenario that she feared.

When people in Thavnair paniced, turned into monsters, making them panic more and even more transformed. Then that transformed kid got stomped on. All of that was sad and shocking.

The two girls that would rather run through the cold, being attacked by monsters, than stay with those evil Eorzea people. Plus the suicide of that general(?). Garlemald was a treasure.

Will put you on ignore if you can't form a logical argument but argue nonetheless

Yeah - that part of the story was so upsetting! Atop the part you mention, the scene with Matsya running with the baby..... I was literally sat in the room (alone) saying "Noo! Don't you DARE" to the screen and the relief I felt when Estinien (and Vrtra) appeared and saved them.... also have to credit Matsya's voice actor here - I honestly believed the despair in Matsya's voice during that scene.

As for Garlemald - Its a relatively small moment, but Jullus (at Camp Brokenglass) being handed a cup of soup, seeing the people around him living the moment, playing music, bickering over contributions, and just being 'Human'. "It's the little things that make life worth living", and its especially poignant that it was all from people whom he was taught were 'savages', and he tears up from it. That part was so touching.

I'm glad I am not the only one who had a racing heart in that scene! I was basically pleading to the screen all that time "Oh goddess no, not the child... no, not poor Matsya... no SE, please, don't.." Of course, cue the big hero moment from Vrtra and Estinien saving them, but up that point, I was basically despairing myself...

And before that, when the baby's mother was attacked by the blasphemy, seeing her struggle to hold onto her baby even as the monster snapped her neck and the life drained from her, and then threw them both into the pond.... I simply could not believe what I was seeing, I was basically in tears. I was glad the WoL dived into the pond in a flash without a second thought, but all the time Enki was diving desperately downwards, over and over in my mind, I was going "oh please be alright, please please!" - which sounded increasingly hollow with each passing moment. I knew the mother was already dead, but I was also sure the poor child had perished too.... of course infant immortality was in effect, but they really came close to averting that.

Utterly horrifying, and yet, an amazing scene that is one of my favourite parts of not just EW but the whole game.
