He didn't ruin the thread. He is actually taking something about EW he was strongly displeased with, and put a positive spin on it.

He's also not imagining anything when it comes to Venat. She's not a saint. She's an idealist who got a hold of unimaginable power. And with it, she committed genocide of her own people. She paid heavily for it too. She didn't even get to return to the Aetherial sea. She was completely destroyed. Soul and all.

Fanfiction is like what I wrote about Azem being really pissed off at Venat for the sundering, and my character being a shard of the soul feels a certain air of payback when facing Hydaelyn in combat. That's based on nothing more than my own feelings towards Venat, and there is nothing currently to prove how Azem felt about the sundering, other than how 'you' feel about the sundering.

Anywho, when I think about the best parts of EW for me, there are two that stand out. Our first trip to Garlemald, and the Loporrits. Everything going up to the moon is top-notch. Everything after it felt like a flower was snipped from the garden before given a chance to bloom. The Loporrits need no explanation. We really need that wind-up minion of one.

I had several, but the ones that really stood out for me:

    - The launch of the Ragnarok. That was just awesomesauce. Seeing it take off, the benevolant Primals being summoned to assist. Garuda being sassy about helping us and Susano living up to his title, and 'Torn from the Heavens' playing through it all. A fantastic moment which I've revisited through the Unending Journey countless times.

    - Zenos. I, for one, actually enjoyed the direction they took with him. Prior to Endwalker I'd found him underwhelming to say the least. However, I found his role fascinating in Endwalker.... because he was unimportant to it - and he decides to not let that bother him. In an story where everyone is pondering the meaning of happiness, here is a guy who's found his own interpretation of it and the only element of that which is missing for him is finding a way to reach it. And he does, because when Alisaie calls him out of his behavior he listens. And after hearing Meteion talk about the inevitability of suffering, Zenos popping up from nowhere*, calling it all nonsense and beneath the WoL, was really cathartic and a nice wake-up call.
After two whole expacs of being a forced rival, he actually earned my respect at the very last moment to the point where I actually wanted to give him the fight to the death he'd sought me out for. And I'll be honest - I LOVED that fight, particularly the closing moments, when we were weaponless and just plain punching the living crap out of each other. I only wish it were possible to revisit that specific part via Unending Journey.

*Also have to note that the numerous reaction videos on Youtube suggest that a healthy number of players were as surprised at Zenos' appearance as I was!

    - The music. I absolutely adore 'Footfalls'. 'Close in the Distance' and 'Flow' are beautiful pieces of music in their own rights too. The game almost never disappoints when it comes to music and the aforementioned pieces were no exception!

    - Sharlayan in general. Absolutely stunning map

I'll probably think of more and hopefully this discussion can continue without becoming yet another thread bemoaning the negatives.

Yeah, I get that - but it'd be FAR too easy for this thread to become another 'lets discuss Venat and her actions' discussion.

Found Garlemald to be the strongest point in the expansion with it's portrayal of what indoctrination can do.

I liked the darker parts of Endwalker the most, like Garlemald in general and the second half of Thavnair.

It's more of the general mood I was expecting from the expansion but aside from those moments I really wasn't getting terribly strong "end of the world" vibes and Shadowbringers honestly instilled a stronger sense of urgency and dread in me for the most part.

Having things get really crazy like with the entire world having burning skies by the time we depart for Ultima Thule and beasts starting to show up in droves everywhere would've left more of a lasting impression. I'm kind of hoping that maybe we'll eventually get to visit a region in Ilsabard or one of the other continents that was totally devastated by the Final Days as an uncomfortable reminder of how badly things could have gone for places we're better acquainted with.

Hey now, I'm not an edgelord and I don't like her either.

And again I don't have a problem with people who displeased with Venat's action because in the end, like what I choose on Omega's side quest, "None of them are justified." (Although Venat's action IMO still more reasonable than Hermes and Emet because she don't have choice but to sunder so Etheirys don't become The Dead Ends 3rd world). But come on now, this is the 4th thread that this guy keep bringing up "Why Venat is the most evil creature in this game." on people's post that appreciate EW (or some of it).

Garlemald was good. Makes me wish we got that Garlemald expansion even if I’d have hated any more castrum duties the story would have made up for it.

Shame we never got any more final days either than just thavnair. Was excited when it came to old sharlayan at the end only to find out it was a echo. As little more … drama? Haste? Would have been nice by finding out the FDs had come to Sharlayan or Limsa (like in the trailer)

Same. It's a shame they killed him off, I would've loved to have had a Vegeta-type rival.

What sticks out for me is recalling how Fandaniel was downplayed at Fanfest "Don't worry. He won't be the final boss"

I'd have to say Sharlayan as a city, the Garlemald MSQ stuff (Jullus included, also really liked In From the Cold), the scenes with the wandering ancients on the moon and the Elpis sidequests/some of the time spent with Hyth and Emet, and Elidibus's send off, which was probably the saddest part of it. Plus this:

    Not an awful lot else.

The edgelords simply switched to simping for her as a full time job, as far as I can tell. Though I will agree, the mental gymnastics/circus acts to defend her, have been amusing.

Putting Venat down for the rabid dog she was, and Elpis up until the final cutscene.
