[Suggestion] Better controller support and more options for button layouts.

Current controller support PC version of FFXIV is not that great and it really needs to be updated.

Support for controllers with back paddles/buttons, i simply would love to have ability to use my 8BitDo Pro 2 wired controller for Xbox back buttons for things like more ways to quickly access cross hotbars.

Support for PS4/5 controller speaker and touchpad features, yes i know there is settings to enable PS4/5 controller features but it dosen't work on PC version of FFXIV and of course have ability to use bluetooth connection when FFXIV is only game i currently know that PS4 controller bluetooth connection dosen't work at all.

Button layouts for Xbox One controller, Xbox Series X/S controller and Nintendo Switch controller when current Xbox 360, PS4 and PS5 controller layouts are simply not enough.
I know i could use any controller i like and then not pay attention to button layout but problem is, i don't always remember all button combinations to navigate in UI.

Gamepad customization settings to have image of controller based on button layout you are using and not just having image of Xbox 360 controller for all button layouts.

More options to customize button configuration.

Ability to set trigger activation range when not all controllers have same trigger activation range in FFXIV.

These are few things i would like see for better controller support on PC version of FFXIV.

I agree with you for the most part and as someone with accessibility issues who has slowly but surely moved to using both KB&M and controller I've seen some of these issues sneak up; especially the extremely limited rebinding and a vast majority of issues being somewhat slightly improved by Valve's robust input configuration.
However that doesn't mean that improvement shouldn't be sought out.

I was wondering why the speaker didn't work when I finally tried a dualshock 4 and after a bit of digging I had found that this was an issue that stems from Sony and their driver implementation. To my knowledge this is because you require an out of print proprietary bluetooth adapter from Sony to allow the speaker to work on PC.
I don't really use the controller that often because of ergonomic issues so I'm not sure if it works on other titles on PC but as far as I am aware this is one of those classic anti-consumer proprietary Sony issues that they were so famous for through the 2000's and early 10's.
I would suggest looking towards campaigning for Sony to change this and implement the feature on a new set of drivers but looking at a foreign megacorp who has a large and twisted history of being extremely anti-consumer and backing proprietary systems for decades. I'm sorry I just don't see them going through with it for the miniscule amount of good press they'd receive for an old product.

If someone is aware of a workaround or if the PS5 controller or something works then please feel free to correct me on this matter but from what the internet seems to tell us: this doesn't seem to be an issue that Yoshida's team has the power to fix.

My PS5 controller puts out the game sound unless I pick a different option. The only thing I'm missing is being able to use the touchpad to point the mouse pointer.

I'm using it via cable on my PC (no Steam or other modifying software).

Otherwise, I love the movement reactions the game does on the PS5 controller. They feel so fitting and it has so many different reactions. It's a very great feature.
