They also understood the difference between fantasy and reality, it was a video game, it wasn't real. I was raised with the sense to know the difference and not to imitate anything happening in the game. If you have to helicopter parent your kids, you're doing it wrong. If you're a totally absent parent, you're doing it wrong.
Hiding things from your kids that they're naturally curious about is bad parenting. Whether it be sex, firearms, or any other taboo or dangerous thing. Sit down with them, talk about it, teach them responsibility. Do this well and you won't have to monitor them 24/7. Do this and you won't have to shelter them or be overbearing and stunt them for life.![]()
