Seriously, I've been on Balmung (and Besaid before that) since the 1.0 era and I've come across blatant public ERP maybe twice. Blatant as in people typing in public chat channels, anything else is just a guess even if it's a strong suspicion. I think the third option is that these people got catfished and are now suddenly anti-ERP cause their e-waifu wasn't real.

I dont engage or care for erp but love the fallout <3 only thing stopping me from causing ERP fallout is respect for the role play community.

One of my friends was passing by the "innocuous two catgirls with one in a lap" that you see near Pearl Lane, and their erp accidentally came out of private chats lmao. They were incredibly embarrassed and just left. This was... gosh, 2014-ish? But I've never seen it blatant, just the "oh hm yeah they're probably erping but I see no text, good for them" passing by in the world.

The only time I was propositioned in tells, despite my search info saying I'm not interested in it was when I hopped over to Zalera to help a friend with something. They got a report for harassing me about it for their troubles, since I said no and they started giving me gil numbers to pay me with lmao. Hope the chat with a GM was worth it.

This has probably been brought up already, but I say it just in case.

You don't come across ERP in this game unless you go out of your way to find it. You never actually see it happening out in the open. So you have to wonder where these complaints are actually coming from.

If you ask me, they're either from trolls who don't actually care about ERP, or weird fanatic losers who probably have nothing to do, or else they wouldn't be trying so hard to get into other people's business.

not true. I teleported to Limsa yesterday and there was a highlander male and some viera female erping in front of the aetherite. Dude straight up whispered me with a "yes" like I was intruding on them.

If consenting adults want to ERP that's their business, not my place to judge. I just wish they would be more private about it because main city chat can be cringy enough without it. The real issue is that it's a huge opening for child predators, and on more than one occasion I've seen lalafel characters advertising in this fashion with seriously creepy profiles.
