Mount Farming and the 99 Totem Issue

This is exactly what im referring to when I mention the community just refusing to acknowledge there is a problem.

You set the tone and it clearly wouldn't matter what anyone could say. I'm not defending it or denying a problem. You just have to do better than say get rid of it. Why should these items provided at no extra charge that do take some effort to put together (along with the fights that contain them) come at a lesser cost of time and effort?

Frankly, if optional content is a problem, it's more personal than design related. There will always be items that will require some level of effort. It's up to each person to decide whether or not something is worth doing. There are items I don't like to pursue and it's something I think about now and again. I recently made a decision to stop pursuing one item, but I'm not gonna make a show of it. I'm not here for the validation of my opinions.

The latest trial is actually 50 (clears) and 2 others have been so before it.

It's not just about the mount though. You're also gearing up, starting with accessories and then moving on to weapons. You win some. You lose some. You have ample time to do it. If you don't like it, you can always just wait on it. Everything in previous expansions goes much faster and by that time the drop rate has increased by whatever piddly amount. On the moogle tome events, they'll have one or two you might have missed.

I understand that. I am in no way complaining about having to farm for gear, weapons etc. However, there is a clear difference between grabbing a weapon and obtaining the mount. With the weapon coffers now, that process is incredibly easy and not time consuming at all. The main point I am addressing is the mount being essentially time gated behind running the trial 99 times. The latest trial is 50, you're right. But that trial also takes a while to run.

I was only interested in my Kamuy's. Suzaku took me 181 tries before I finally got her mount. Seiryu took me 118. I gave up on Zodiark after 108. I really don't want to waste anymore time on such tedious shit. Also, when will I be able to buy Zodiark's mount?

in most normal timed cases you can buy a mount with totems 2 patches after it's been released.
Zodiark/Hyaedalyn mounts released 6.0 - buy in 6.2
Endsinger mount released 6.1 - buy in 6.3
and so forth. the only exception is the trial from x.5 patch can be bought a bit quicker as it's the end of the expansion.

Since suzaku I had to buy every single mount, every time, doing all 100+ kills, many times way more as i didnt even get the weapons i needed. Its really fun the first 30-50 maybe 60 times but after that - WE have prooven we can do the fight easily, ive carried enough ppl and wasted tons of time bearing terrible parties - as we all know, either you get stuck in groups from hell or the super fast speed kill groups stop after like 2-3 kills...

Only on titania i had "luck" and got the gwiber on 70+ kills... the only mount ive rolled in years.

But thats not the worst, the worst is the wait, the "oh you cant buy it yet but maybe you wanna farm it 400+ times?" bs... at max after two weeks we should be able to buy it.


Id say, just remove the mount drop and make it an 50 or 100 kill archivment - that would be fair.

Oh it is, as thats literally everything you can do unless you do niche stuff or savage or prog ultimates....
Also the way its rigged, how suddenly on the next patch we can raise the droprates OR WORSE hand the mount for free later on a mogtome...



Its just not fun anymore, if theres literally 0 chances to get it, buying them has ruined all my joy on em - yes thats my own fault but i cant change how i feel about it. Being forced to farm it this many times bc i "have to" made me no longer helping friends with them as in, omg please no more...


it was fun - a LOT of fun when i still felt theres a real chance but nope. Until the droprrates are higher or we can buy em right away im only grabbing the needed weapons and quit.

Sure thats one valid way, but to me thats no fun, feels empty... i want the challange, the struggle, overcomming it, but i also want to have at least a real chance...



My most soul crushing one was emerald ex... on our first 15 clears i had 3 mounts drop, I've rolled 90+ on EACH of em, on each of em THREE ppl rolled even higher then me. Like f### this! usually ppl get the mount on 60+ but the not just one but 3 times im over 90, three roll even higher. Usually im lucky to roll even more then 30. many times i literally rolled like 6 or even just 1.


Shorten the dice to 30, make it an archivment drop, start with lower droprates or at least keek 2 token per kill... anything - but please change something....

If we're gonna compare to savage raids, let's not forget there's a mount there as well, with no alternate method for acquiring it.

Yea. But I stayed for a bit longer for the group I was in to see if the goddamn thing would ever drop again. Can't even remember if it did. I'm so over mount farming dude. And for the wolf mounts, I did them as soon as the EX's came out. I had a lot of free time back then.
