This doesn't fix the problem.
What happens *after* those houses are taken again? You're still left with thousands of players who can't get a home.
Instanced housing is the only solution.
Still a bias take tbf. BLU being limited gives it far more freedom which I don't think folks understand. We don't even know what the reworks will be so why is that even a point to make (Ast rn isn't fun to me so I'm one of those "no one's" asking for it). Why would they fix the glitches people use in their homes? They know folks use em hence why they haven't done that. And you went from being wrong about the fact houses are already instanced to moving goalposts to this.Because of a huge reason why most of us get housing: To decorate it. Why wouldn't it be a concern?
I know it sounds like I'm throwing out a gotcha moment, but you do realize we are still talking about the same dev team that made BLU a limited job, chopped off Hrothgar ears to give them more hairstyle options, and are going to totally rework two jobs no one was really asking to be reworked, yes? What on Earth makes you think you will even be able to use the same furniture? Let alone the glitches that are used to create the interior décor? As I said before, instanced housing would be entirely different content. It wouldn't tie into current housing at all, and this seems to be a massive oversight from just about everyone demanding for instanced housing.
If instanced housing does ever make into the game, I hope that is not the case. But yeahhh.
Literally NONE of your points says they can't add instanced housing. Seems more like a spite post than anything else
They can't add instanced housing cause server space, anyway here's an instanced island lololololololo
This would be a perfect opportunity to add instanced housing.Just put it on the island. Bam. Done. It wouldn't be the perfect solution, but it'd accomplish way more than their futile attempts to apply bandaid fixes to the system we have.
It's not an unpopular opinion. It's actually a very popular one.
Unfortunately, it's an opinion rooted in fantasy and not reality.
We've never seen "tons of freed-up houses" after auto-demolition has resumed in the past. What we see is players returning to the game to reset the demolition timers on their houses with maybe a couple of dozen houses becoming available 6 weeks later.
Demolition does more to keep players active so they keep their house than it does to return plots to the available supply so other players get a chance to own a house. That's not to say the demolition doesn't need to be resumed at some point.
But it's not going to turn out to be the solution you seem to think it is.
You really just need to look at OCE, the wards are filling up and there doesn't look like there's enough space and this is with entirely fresh wards. Auto-demo wouldn't be as good as that so yeah...
Getting a house would be worlds better than either placard or lottery, but watching the salt for lottery I stand that lottery is better than placard. The absolutely soul crushing placard potential was hilariously unacceptable. But I get people also find the lottery annoying because ultimately... having proper supply would be best.
Just different types of poison when ideally we don't want any poison lol
I am not a 'island sanctuary' will be instanced housing person but I am hopeful we can see rather quickly many substantial homely features, such that for some it immediately or shortly after release is 'good enough', and over time potentially have it become instanced housing itself (and then many more would be satisfied).

Always keep in mind that Island sanctuary has no hard facts on their housing idea yet, they might as well give you a building that has like 10 slots you can change to "decorate it" However seeing how hard they want to go at Island sanctuary makes me wonder ... why not just make it the instanced housing players wanted.
Instances like private housing does not exist and do not tax the server unless someone is in it, this is why when you log out your put in front of the house. So unless everyone decides to A remain logged in and B always be in their house, the Server wont even feel it.
This is why ill never understand why SE has not done instanced housing yet, there's no neighbourhood anyway, most of the time you are surrounded by private owned houses or shell fcs, neither of those sit outside their house.
And even if you try to force it to be an FC only ward, the shell FC's take them or they remain empty as all FCs only want the large or medium plots not the small ones. The entire system is so flawed ...
They could've made Firmament only medium/large houses and release the wards one by one to ensure they actually fill at which point all remaining wards would be free for all.
Theres no saving this system its held together by 10 layers of ductape, you either go full scorched earth and redo the system or you add a second system that will work and players can use it as a REAL alternative.
Also why is there no large apartments or a 3x1 Gardening item. Those 2 things alone would also help firefight the situation a bit.
It fixes it for the people who get a plot. I've been enjoying my house for a couple of years and it was a demolished plot. Turning on auto-demo doesn't mean we can't also get instanced housing one day.
