So, what now? Lotteries with 150+ bids until... when?

Last night when I made the 'rounds' of all five housing zones to place my bid, I found the following:

- Dozens of plots that had 2, 3 or 4 bids on them, at the very end of the entry cycle.
- The maximum number of entries on a plot was 58. I avoided that because...
- ...identical plots in other wards had less than ten bids on them.

In the end I picked a plot that had three other bids on it, mine being the fourth.

I guess participation varies wildly based on server? That's fine, I can understand that. Stating things like '150-1 odds or much worse' is hyperbolic, though. Did you even look around? Places like Empyrium were rife with open plots and low participation. I visited some two dozen open plots in one ward there, and at least half of them had fewer than ten bids. At the tail end of the cycle (2am-ish, PDT, six hours before entries closed.)

I also made the rounds but did not do a total tally so I appreciate that point. '150' was hyperbolic... purposefully. I have no idea what the actual odds will be but it wont be good by most peoples standards. Tbh, most wards in Empy had 2 to at most 10 bids, but most were really 3-4 bids per. So, I guess, there's at least hope in better odds winning on Empy and Kugane lots in the future. I'm not feeling lucky though.

So losing a house for months because there are 100+ bids on a plot is more fun ? You do you.

I have several friends that were never able to get a house because they didn't have the time to invest in clicking on placards for hours and hours.

After losing several plots to other people after clicking for several hours, I stopped trying because of how exhausting and demoralizing it was. I only got my house because they turned on auto-demolition and after 45 days a ton of plots went up for sale and I managed to get one.

I'm kind of curious how those pining for instanced housing would feel if they stepped into their instanced home and noticed that they can't get any of the indoor glitches to work when trying to decorate. You know, because it's entirely different content, and the devs didn't bake those glitches in.

Nah, they'll be too busy complaining that they cannot get into their house because the instance servers are full due to everyone wanting to decorate.

Thankfully we dont have ever have to do it "your way" anymore. If I can get a house in this game, more power to me, if I dont, there's no use crying over spilled milk now that the system is less stupid.

This is the main selling point of the lotto system that I liked. Suffering carpal tunnel syndrome from trying to win a house only to lose to that random guy who came to click at last 15m, relocators, and/or exhaustion in general while also not doing anything else the game has to offer out of fear of missing the plot was one of the unhealthiest thing I ever did to myself. I stopped it after losing out 3 times.

I suppose what people didn’t expect was the influx players like myself: those who didn’t or stop bothering clicking the placard but wanted a plot for themselves. There are a lot of us.

Now if only they drop this neighborhood system and make housing ‘unlimited’… >_>

Why would people scrambling to get a house in the first place be more concerned with the ability to glitch furnishings than acquiring the actual house?

Housing interiors are already instanced. Not sure how this even makes sense.

Only way that would happen is if SE goes full on spiteful towards their own playerbase.

This whole system needs to be ripped out and replaced with instanced housing. Let it cost twice as much to get the house if you want to. Upgrades could be a gold sink. Let players create and customize house placards like adventuring plates, and link them in chat (to cut down on the multi-paragraph venue announcements we get in Limsa /shout chat).

Server issue? If FFXIV makes enough for SE to burn a good chunk of it on their NFT crap, they can put some servers in.

Worst case scenario, and with a long explanation, charge players an extra dollar a month for a house. You'd make so much money you'll swim in it.

Considering most people upset about not being able to get a house have never HAD a house and don't have any past experience trying to decorate, I'm guessing they'd be fine with it. I wouldn't even know what those glitches are and therefore wouldn't miss them.
