How do People Know Whenever there's a new Lottery?

Nice one. The game just doesn't tell you anything. Markers? Mechanics? Crystalline Conflict? Google it! So much has been done by the community or is only on websites like the Lodestone. Also the "timer" only tells you if a lottery is active or not. NOT the TIMER. They really screwed this one up.

I know, it's upsetting and embarrassing. I was trying to learn Eureka and had to ask questions every 5 seconds because the game quite LITERALLY says "Most of the stuff in Eureka you have to figure out! Ask other players! F you!" The reason I put "encourages community" in quotes, is because it's not me saying this, it's Square Enix.

One of my biggest gripes when I started back playing again, was that I had like 20 different tabs open, every ffxiv wiki site I could think of, reddit threads, random off-shoot websites... It's like, how am I supposed to know ANYTHING? Square Enix does this on purpose. Because when people ask questions or communicate with other players, they make friends. And when they make friends, they want to play more. And when they want to play more... they have to spend $$$. I agree with everyone here, I was just trying to explain the why and the how, not that I agree with it. Just that that's how it is.

They did, as you showed above, show the estate tab, but that was 4 months ago. On a single lodestone post. How many lodestone updates have their been? And the information is just buried within one from several months back. That's absurd

And yes I'm very familiar with having to glean information from other players to know how something in this game works when it should be explained or at least hinted at. It's the only reason I figured out how to properly do Fishing Expeditions and rack up maximum points. People have managed to figure out the exact right kind of bait, for the exact right zones, for triggering Spectral. How? Trial and error, which is stupid. There is no other way anyone could've found that out.

While the idea of witholding information for players to figure out things amongst eachother may seem like a neat idea in theory, in practice, what happens is a handful of players will go full sweaty mode and figure everything out and then post that information on some community resource. That's not exactly social, it's relying on a handful of players with far more time and will than most players to figure out what should be actually reasonably able to be understood via throwing shit at a wall until something eventually sticks, no matter how long that takes. It's horrendous game design and shouldn't be a thing.

There was also a post a couple weeks ago when they announced that as of the July 10th-15th lottery the lots in wards 10-18 would be open to private purchase. And then there was a TON of discussion about it.

Next housing lottery starts 19th August 15:00 UTC.

I meant July. Since nothing interesting is scheduled for July, but many using things expected for August, I'm already mentally in August.

or you could have the common knowledge that timers that affects the global world are listed in the Timer menu.
