There's Tataru, if you count receptionists. Yugiri had a prominent role as well in previous stories.

But the main thing I feel from the writers is that they've pared down the number of main characters to something more manageable, with 1 spot being open for the expansion's guest character. Since Estinien took over for Ryne and Estinien famously hates working on a team, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes off to do his own thing sometime between now and 7.0, and someone fills that spot later. Shadowbringers seems to have stabilized and codified our main party since they introduced the Trust mechanic and I really don't see that going away or continuing with a full set of new people since progress carries over between expansions.

well, psycologically speaking (I think?) 7 is the number of thing the brain can remember if I'm not wrong, so six would be fitting for a number of main cast, like you say, so we have, y'shtola, g'raha tia, thancred, urianger, ali and alphy, i'mjust not counting tataru and krile because they aren't combatants and more of supporting characters. I do disagree about the thing about trust mechanics because most part of shb not all the scions are around when you do the first time but CAN be brought upon when leveling in the dungeon and personally i'm against not having new people just because uhu trust system shenanigans.

Heck with it, I want Raubahn, Merlwyb, Aymeric, Hien, Lyse, Yugiri to join

that would be interesting for role quests maybe one day they will have their own dungeon so you can play with them

i'm not really saying they should get axed (well maybe thancred and urianger but like, go take some vacations or something you do have a point it would be bad writing but that exploring for gold in 6.1 was a good enough point to introduce new characters instead of bring some of the scions that should be doing something/had nothing to do with the plot

Eh, I see the Scions as the ones who actively participate in the day to day story fighting/exploring/discussing, Krile sorta hovers around this area but never quite moves into it.

You know who I would REALLY like to see join the Scions? Ogul, she cracks me up and would be a fun permanent addition, she's got some personality to her.

It would be cool if the developers didn't constantly make male roes the punchline to whatever situation they come up with. Nothing in promo art either, always lalas, cats, and more recently, viera. At this point, it's just nice to see any new roes at all that are just like, a regular normal person, and not one who's entire purpose is a set up to a series of, "Big man do funny thing" jokes.

The first part makes sense, because the Scions haven't really expanded at all since the Crystal Braves era. There hasn't been anyone of any race joining since Viera, Au Ra, and Hrothgar came out.

Elezen may be "leading" the Scions in numbers, but they're not a majority. 4 Elezen vs. 3 Hyur and 3 Mi'qote isn't exactly an overabundance.

This makes a ton of sense in lore though. 3 of 5 Elezen are of the same family and another is Ishgardian. One of these Elezen are deceased. For a highly populated race, this is fine.

Minor scions seem mainly split between Elezen, Roes, and Hyurs. I'd classify Riol and F'lhaminn as minor though, making Mr. Waters the only major current Hyur Scion. I believe of the minor Elezen and Roes, there are people related to each other as well. Minor Scions seem to be missing a Lalafell or two.

I don't see a current reason for Viera, Au Ra, or Hrothgar to be in the Scions, since much of the focus is on Eorzea, a place not native to any of these races. It's not they couldn't care, but the odds of one showing up vs an Elezen or a Hyur is much smaller. The only Au Ra suitable is Yugiri, but she has other obligations to both Hien/Doma and her place of birth.

Which made sense, it's originally an organization focusing on Eozea, so only the Eozean races are in it. While it had seen expanded the scope, there is another hard requirement that makes the new races unfit for it: you have to not holding allegiance to be a scion. The reason the scion can meditate between states because they don't represent any one in particular. Even though it was a disaster, that was the reason why they moved their HQ to Revenant toll to begin with.

While we had run into many prominent members of the new race, all of them still hold a solid allegiance to their original states, making them unfit for the Scion cause. Heck, that's why Lyse had to step down once she decided to become one of the leader of Ala Migho, and Estinien only invited to join once he went solo and no longer duty-bounded to Isghard.

I think we'll see new member eventually, but frankly Estinien and Tia raised the bar quite damn high for joining (at least for the main group). It will have to be a character that must have been around for a while and well known to the player. I doubt we will see new Scion helicoptered in out of nowhere.

But Yda and Lyse were both members of the Scions at different points, with the latter secretly replacing the former.

What they're doing is filling in time until you arrive so they can help you with the Exarch's grand plan to save everything.

Estinien and Tia

Picking on you but this is a generalised rant – I don't know why so many people go for "Tia" as the bit of the name to call him by when everyone within the game calls him "G'raha" or (in Krile's case) "Raha".

Tia isn't even a unique name to him, but a tribe rank shared by most male Seeker Miqo'te, so it's not something that really works as an identifier. It's like calling him "Mister".
