yes, it almost half the main cast and more than a third, it's definitely very crowded

you're right, sometimes it's crazy but usually side characters have more personality possibly because the writer there have more freedom to write.

Long answer: Seriously, it's because everybody else DIED. There were even beast members. But the most NPC of the NPC's got eliminated each time the plot needed somebody to die. Sometimes one of the people removed was so popular, the complaint was so much that they got brought back. Least popular, dead, most popular alive.

Dragoon, popular, thus estinian stays.
Twins, popular, thus they stay.

Further now that it's the end all the most popular ones are getting highlights. Estinian ends up in trusts and in major plot events. Tataru gets an entire plotline. The twins get all the plot points around them resolved.
fiiiiiiiiiiiiiine I get it but the scions do need fresh from all those killing, an male au ra maybe? one that is not a real dragon is disguise the last au ra I remember being relevant is yugiri and maaaybe mikoto if you think hard enough.

I just wish some of the scions would like, live their lives or something just make WoL and some new friends deal with the end of the world or something.

Was I the only one who got the vibes that they're building up to Y'shtola being willing to do anything to get her goals? (「ఠωఠ)「
can't say i did except for maybe froth and foam thing but I do hope they use the pretext of exploring the void/thirteen to make some development on her character, i'm kinda tired of her being the narky character that's too sexy to die
