I mean, the answer as to why is extremely simple and has played out several times over the game's lifespan, as well as in other PVE-centric MMOs. Team vs team queues collapse because the community never reaches a sustainable size. Open queues collapse because teams bully out solo players. They cater to solo players because solo players are the only thing that consistently keeps the modes alive.
This was only made to battle wintrading. First season already had multiple bans across multiple data centers due to people queue syncing to trade wins![]()
If this ends up shuffling the teams at high crystal more it's a welcome change, however for something like Casual it's just going to bring more grief to people trying to play with or against their friends.
No one enjoys getting pub stomped against a STACK group if you're queuing solo. Communication via discord would be an unfair advantage. I do agree there should be a group play mode where you can queue as 2+ players but don't add that in as the default for solo queue - it'll inevitably create toxicity with players complaining about premade groups vs pugs.
