MCH Feedback: Add ability to hide the lunchbox

Long ago the Aetherotransformer was used for a number of animations. Now all it does is ruin glams. Technically you give it a little slap to activate Hypercharge but it's barely noticeable, many players probably aren't even aware that happens.

I wouldn't mind if it were simply removed, but I'm sure there are players who love the lunchbox so perhaps instead of removing it completely there could be a quest or NPC to hide it for players who choose to? Or perhaps some sort of command like how Egi Glamours work? You wouldn't even need to adjust the Hypercharge animation for when it's hidden because honestly you can hardly tell it's happening to begin with.

I'm aware there are other ways of accomplishing this but it would be nice to have an official method, especially if they're trying to reduce usage of those other ways.

What do you guys think? Drop it, don't care, or lunchbox4eva?

Get rid of the lunchbox.

The fact that I can't wear my Balthier outfit, one of the most iconic Machinists in the entire series, without it clipping through is ridiculous.

That's my favorite MCH outfit too and a great example of the issue. The lunchbox is either thematically jarring against the glam, clips horribly through it, or both. I have an Old West glam I like to use as well and it has both of those issues.

I don't mind the idea of starting weapons having the lunchbox, or ones that are primitive and old, but it really should be part of the weapon template and be able to be designed to not exist, or be done custom with the rest of the weapon.

Course it would require every MCH weapon in the game being redone.... course doing it latter would require even more work so... sooner the better.

I'd really like this too, I'd also like to be able to hide scabbards on SAM or heck show a scabbard on PLD.

I've seen it asked in an interview once before and Yoship said something about it being difficult because the animations are tied to it, which I found an odd reason because that only seems to be the case for Hypercharge and it's quite subtle. Even if all they did was turn off the lunchbox and keep the animation otherwise the same I doubt anyone would even notice the one second electric particle effect on their hip in the middle of a chaotic battle.

So many outfits I'd love to glamour for my Machinist, but that freaking lunchbox ruins them with its god awful clipping and how out of place it looks on certain outfits I want to wear with the job.

A reasonable and simple glamour suggestion? Something something spaghetti code.

Nevermind that fact that it interferes with glamours. On a male hyur midlanders, just standing idle with the basic stance, my left arm completely clips through it. That alone is enough to repulse me. It is also tied to any weapon that can be dyed so it always looks horrendous when you actually do that. Want to make your dyable weapon have a wooden hue? Here's a nice shiny orange / rusty box on your hip.

Just make the Aetherotransformer our secondary weapon and add the "Emperor's New Aetherotransformer" to the game. Surely that can't be so difficult?
