FFXIV fanatics defending critique and attempting to silence players has a sense of irony...
" The silent leave first ", said their god - Yoshi himself.
Silencing any critique? is akin to not caring. Both Player-Base and SE, to not uphold high standards equal to the praise of the game being held so high on a pedestal. FFXIV did had more complex PVE gameplay, nuances and SE did listen to player feedback. A lot less now, at least to me. Not an improvement and a clear lack of care from SE.
Heck, being zealots for a foreign company with the intention to defend the game? does not actually help the game. Want FFXIV to be the un-disputed game? Then you support for it to be improved, to maintain a high standard, to also have not just Story Lore but also Complex gameplay, and to support not having Feedback being Ignored by a presumable caring company!
Then again everything I write is just " Blasphemy " so go ahead and worship some " Deities " that are nothing more but Humans like you and I in blissful ignorance.
Maybe they were just tempered by the primals and must needs be given the cure. It might be disturbed, of course, nothing is stopping them from collectively casting megadeth and going about their journey. Through the fires and the flames they carry on, but eventually, some day, we'll be avenged sevenfold. Just don't stop believin'. We are survivors, and the more passion and care we show hearts on fire, like a hrothgar we got the eye of the tiger.
........I'm running out of musical puns, so I'll issue myself a yellowcard and see myself out. Good day
Oh, hello, reason I hate forums so much! It's like being trapped in the demon pit of a Former Game I learned to hate, long ago, thanks to voices like yours. But it's fair - I expect those of us who came here hating this change, who do not hover endlessly on forums, will soon be gone,(in my case, not from the game, but certainly from this miserable spot) - so you'll have your charming wish, to silence critics of the mildest variety. I'm sure your complaints will be voiced often, of course, because - of course. May you and that smug elezen guy have a grand time.
Well, that IS pretty brilliant! I like Yoshi P. I admire him greatly. I think what he's done with this game is amazing, & I also think it's the best game, certainly mmo, that I've played. I have no intention of quitting. (I do not intend to play the Samurai in its certain state, but there are other classes I don't like, too, so I doubt they'd care.) I'm not even sure who to blame for the change - the developer who felt the math surrounding Kaiten was too hard, probably. But I suck at math, so I can't really go too far there.
I actually don't think fan boys/girls are defending their game, the developers, or the company. I think they're defending themselves, and whatever part of their possibly fragile identity they've sunk into its mythos.
The biggest standard they've messed up here, to me, is the lack of further communication. It's REALLY bad to ask for feedback, then ignore it. It's also bad to leave a flat, uninspired class untouched - (greetings to machinist, which I COULD love, but do not) - and for some reason, they've put one of their best designed classes in that category. I don't think they did it for casuals, or savage raiders - I think they did it for the reason they said - designing around Kaiten was hard, & they figured we wouldn't miss it. But we did, and do. They didn't take the time to rework it somehow, they just figured button bloat was getting bad, more abilities will be coming, so might as well ditch that (rather than sensibly combine some others into one button)
But anyway, this time visiting the forum has reminded me there are a lot of lovely people who care about the game they play, the jobs they love, and who put a lot of time into their suggestions. It also reminded me that there are THOSE people, who live to annoy/Be Seen, and they sour everything, which I assume is their goal. I can only take so much of them before I close the door on their irritating faces.
the hyperbole with the 5 to 7 people, going nuts in this thread, is hilarious.
The guy making this thread, completely went over board and played developer mind reader, making up things nobody actually said during the live stream.
You think Sam is "ruined" without Kaiten ? That sucks, really, I'm sorry for you and I think anyone's grievances are valid.
What isnt valid, is flying off the handle, losing your cool. Am I supposed to care that hes quitting the entire game over one skill ?
Because if he actually is and this isnt just empty whinging for attention, he cannot actually like the game all that much to begin with.

Why would I ? Been here since 2014 and still having a great time. Then again, I don't quit over a single skill change, on one class, or get my knickers in a twist over self imagined Dev intentions.
Certainly, dont let me spoil your sixth, self-pity Kaiten parade- Thread.
But dont be surprised if i cant help but laugh from the sidelines at limp wristed blackmail commentary.

I will try to summarize the situation once again for people that cannot be bothered to flip through multiple threads and pages:
6.0 - 6.08 SAM was in a decent spot. Not perfect, but at least it made some sense when reviewing past changes to SAM over time. When they removed things, they also added things. Even with the changes, the gameplay flow and focus on building up towards high potency burst attacks was preserved.
6.1 brought changes that 1. Absolutely nobody asked for and 2. Were detrimental to gameplay flow, group synergy, and just general aesthetics. They removed or disrupted things that many people grew to love about the job, and forced people to learn new muscle memory for no net positives. Nothing new was added in place of what was removed, and things changed that were perfectly fine before.
Massive outcry across all regions and languages ensues, with thousands of posts across dozens of threads, it's not just "5 to 7 people." Please check post counts, post dates, and other threads on the issue before commenting. Many of these people don't want to spend a lot of time on the forums at all, we only do it because we want a better version of something we enjoyed to return. Personally, I commend anyone that started an account even just to make a single post regarding the issue.
Over 4 months later, SE still has still not deigned to explain their reasoning for SAM changes. They either cannot or will not describe what exactly was being held back by the previous iteration of SAM. Any mention of SAM is conspicuously absent in recent interviews or live letters where other jobs are mentioned. The general overview and adjustments they did for critical / direct hit in 6.2 just alleviates a long standing problem for any job with guaranteed criticals, not for any SAM specific issues.
Literally all anybody is asking for in the short term is to rollback changes until they have some better ideas that align with feedback from people who actually play the job. The code and assets already exist, no extra work is needed, all they have to do is hit Ctrl+Z a few times. It's not like this is a cartridge based game from the 90's which would require manufacturing of new hardware to roll out an update. It could have been easily tacked on to any other minor update since 6.1.
Also, any and all reasons for quitting the game are valid, it doesn't matter how logical or nonsensical it is, all that matters is the personal feelings of the individual. Nobody owes SE anything, we already pay our respects to SE in the form of the base prices + subscription fees + mogstation purchases.
Very good summary, Reese
Some here think only 5 or 7 people care, when there are literally more Anti 6.1 SAM patch feedback videos from many Samurai Content creators then that. Over 145 Threads from over 130 different Samurai's... and Dismissing it to just 5 or 7 people? Talk about not caring... Even dismissing it to just Kaiten when 6.1 is a lot more then just 1 button removal, overused debunked
argument.
No one actually answers the argument point of " Feedback being Ignored is a good thing ". And this is goes beyond Samurai, you can fill in any Job that was ignored with any Skill that was deleted by any outrage that negatively impacted those jobs for plenty of players.
Even the most hardcore Simps, even if they think
- Kaiten is just a button you press everytime, when it's not...
- Auto-Crit's improves Samurai, when it destroys synergy with comps...
- Simplifying the Job is improved gameplay, when it's not...
What is the beneficial argument point for " Having Feedback of passionate players being Ignored, that SE requested of a specific group of Players? "
