Same with low blow on DPS, used to do 100 potency but it basically nullified a mobs stun resistance ( you actually needed to stun certain mobs) because it started at 2s.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
If everything works fine for DRG and AST after the changes, then great (and we can feel sad about them not putting enough time and effort into all previous changes to certain classes). If it doesn't work fine, then i can only ask one thing: when will Yoshida personally gut BLM so it doesn't seem so out of place standing on that pedestal?

Undraw will survive the purge.
"Outside obvious jokes/sarcasm, I aim to convey my words to the future readers who may come across mine posts. Can I change -your- mind, somehow? Potentially... but that's not why I'm writing. You and I have wrote our piece(s). We don't necessarily need to change each other's mind. But we can change other's."

Isn't it telling that the community gets terrified when job reworks come up rather than excited?

People don't like change.
Just look at the forums any time something new comes up "ugh, you should have just kept doing it the old way". But also "ugh, thry never try anything new"
No, there's a good reason DRGs are terrified of their job getting ""reworked"" out of nowhere. Most changes the devs have made to jobs since ShB has been a net negative for the game and people took notice of that.
Who wants their favorite job to be ruined so they have a reason to "fix" it 2 years later... Maybe. Because actually they've demonstrated they probably won't even bother doing that, looking at what they did to healers. Ever since SE completely gutted them, people have drowned the genuine concerns of people who didn't want to spam 1111112111111 with "they just made a new base so they can build on it later, your job is only going to feel horrible for a couple years, bear with it". Heres the truth: its never going to happen, they never mentioned anything like that, they just fucked up.
With the precedent they set, players have every reason to be wary about the way this game's job design is headed and dismissing all the valid criticism brought up with "muh people dont like change" is extremely disingenuous.

As an AST main, no I am not happy about AST receiving a "rework" nor am I happy their postponing it because of the backlash from SAM's Kaiten issue. I want to know what the hells they're doing this time. Because:
ShB saw AST's cards go from diverse to the bland crap we have now and only in PvP are they somewhat what we've been asking for since then.
On top of that, Endwalker saw Nocturnal Sect (and Diurnal tehcnically, but that's just who we are base now) removed as well.
What else do you plan on removing SE?
The BEST thing to come out of this "major rework" would be things that SHOULD have been done at the beginning of EW:
- Draw/Play combined in one button - like it is in PvP
- Major Arcana/Crown Play combined in one button
- Astrodyne removed/made worth a damn because its a glorified Lucid Dreaming right now
- Undraw removed because it is by an large the most worthless skill in the game as there is 0 reason to Undraw a card instead of playing it (and no, at this point I don't want to make Undraw a mechanic in some way)
Outside of that? Diverse cards. Which I don't see happening. But a man can dream.
Neither needs their APM cut down. If you don't like APM, there are plenty of other choices. DRG, especially, is busy only for a short burst every other minute. Fix AST's button bloat (Draw <> Play, Minor Arcane <> Crown Play, etc.) and call it a day.
If we're not bringing back prior, more thematic systems and/or their greater-than-current nuance, we may as well spare ourselves the butchery.
