The lobby server connection has encountered an error (2002)

Hi,
I got this error yesterday evening before I went to sleep and been getting it the whole morning today. Already had my 5th error.

the pattern:
log in -> play for about 5 minutes -> get casual disconnect that puts you back in the menu -> attempt to go to character selection screen -> it fails to put me in the character selection screen with an error message "The lobby server connection has encountered an error." (error code: 2002)

I have exactly the same issue, started this morning (about 6 hrs ago) with the same pattern.
I'm on EU Light, alts on two worlds seem to be affected the same way.

Tried all suggested PC fixes (except reinstalling the whole game). Nothing seems to help.

Cannot connect to Materia datacentre, lobby server error 2002, was able to connect to chaos datacentre no issues, time 532pm Sydney 6 July 2022.

Can connect to all data centres EXCEPT Materia (Oceania) - 7.38pm New Zealand 6 July 2022. Error:

"The lobby server connection has encountered an error. 2002"

I'm in Aus, was fine all day, and about an hour ago I 9001'd on Bismark. Since then, been getting the 2002 lobby server error. I can log into N/A - Midgardsormr with no problems, just not Materia.

Same thing, "The lobby server connection has encountered an error" "2002" after logging in and before hitting my character screen. I'm in Australia, play on Ravana.
