I've been working on trying to create a [DPS/Support] Gladiator/Conjurer build. I'm not to fond of the job system and how it hinders the allowance of other class abilities that have proven very beneficial in combat. I was at first interested in having a Paladin but found from various reviews of the class that the PLD job isn't as efficient at tanking as opposed to a Warrior. I played a PLD/WAR in FFXI and I had originally sought out to try a similar build but instead have landed at becoming DPS/Support.

My question to the community is, how would you as a player as group leader treat someone who isn't very interested in the Jobs at the moment but still wishes to contribute? Also before someone mentions the Marauder or Pugilist as being better for DPS/Support, I had wanted to have support tanking abilities and Gladiator has these abilities as well as support heal and do DPS. Basically I would have the ability to play 3 roles and switch on the fly as situations occur rather then being concreted to just 1 set role.

I'm interested to hear peoples input on this idea.
I play with a very similar attitude. Partly due to my need to be a unique little snowflake, and partly to bring some variety into the game, I have geared and play exclusively as a THM, not a BLM. I prefer the slight support ability I bring to a party, and am perfectly okay with giving up jobs skills to do so, and love that Square implemented class exclusive equipment to facilitate such a play style. Similarly, I'm currently gearing up for a tank PUG instead of a DPS MNK

As a party leader, I am more than happy to take in players who like to explore and tamper with the current system, and applaud you for doing so! I don't have much experience with GLA, so I can't really offer much input
