I think it was a bit of missed opportunity to mix Hammer Weapons with Axe Weapons throughout the game in general.
Would love to see a Hammer Job instead, but I think the ship sailed on that.

I would love a DPS job that plays like WAR. I love WAR's animations, but I hate that its a tank.
There are some hammers ( most recently the Savage weapon ), but yeah.
The Savage weapon really shows how cool hammers can be tho, it's one of my favorite WAR weapons in the game.
I wish they had a bit more variety like they used to, for example BLM also had scepters and could use shields.
I wish we could at least glam them, there's actually some I'd consider using for glam but you can't because BLM only use staves now.
But yeah, It's unfortunate that they dropped this.
They played around with the idea of armor that took up multiple gear slots too I can kinda understand dropping that but ARR actually had some cool stuff in this regard that they abandoned.

Lot of stuff like that in ARR makes me wonder why they stopped being experimental afterwards, that is something I miss sorely.
Think its was because of things like
Meta,Elitism, players not knowing what to do with their class, jobs being ignored from raid parties etc.
Not saying that they shouldn't but thats kinda the logic and push that was made into this whole don't risk it for the biscuit mentality they have now
Also they didn't really know what they wanted from the classes so you see a lot of experimenting but now they have a idea whether liked or not
they will stick with it
Free the Glam!, Duel Pistols (Gunner)?
IIRC there are 2 hammers for warriors in the game.
Granted, it could be more... I'd even go as far as saying that a 50/50 ratio between hammers and axes would be nice and give more variety, especially when the game categorizes it as "Marauder / Warrior arms" instead of "2h axe".
Hammer animations need to really feel weighty, like in GW2.
With a hammer, Tomahawk becomes my favorite button to press.

Actualy that could be cool... Can you imagine if they made actual new weapon templates for some jobs but with actual new animations? It would be great to visually spice up the job fantasy a little bit.
Like a 1h machinist arm that they actually wield like it
a Crossbow for BRD that they hold differently
Scrolls for SMN with proper animations
Gunhammer for Gunbreakers
The only issue comes when thinking about Astrologians (star globe) ,Sages (nouliths) and Red Mages (sword and foci), since their weapons are very specialized tools for their roles, I can't see how they would stray into something else.
