Yoshi-P, please consider the Blue Mage Battle Royale PVP idea!

The one hinted at the last live letter... The whole prospect of queueable content for the job in the pvp mode sounded amazing, and the idea of grabbing spells on the go as items on the map can be really nice, depending on how it's implemented.

Since they didn't confirm or deny if the idea was scrapped altogether or if they're still cooking the implementation, so there's hope for the next BLU update in Endwalker.

I would do unholy things for a Blu battleground. Unspeakable crimes against humanity. Including but not exclusive to fish-to-face war crimes.

I feel that the biggest thing to look at would be how to make the spell learning practical without having you mess around with rearranging keybinds... An idea would be something like everyone starting with the same weak offensive spell and the rest of the pvp actions being (don't mind the stupid names) "Learning I" "Learning II", etc - using those as toggleable stances that morph into the actual spell once you get through it on the field, so you would dynamically add to your already set keybind collection.

    I support this 100%

This would be the single best PVP mode in the entire game.

Everyone the same Job. Everyone with the same actions. Nothing unbalanced.
    Random mob spawn locations.

    It would be absolutely fantastic.

Everyone starts off with the default BLU action unlocked.
The other actions are in your BLU PvP profile, so you can hotbar them however you like.
But they are only usable once you've learned them in the actual Battle Royale.

I'd actually just like 1v1 in the masked carnivale locations. The concept of fighting another blue mage was already proven in the quests.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

I imagine a battle royale would mean getting spells in a semi-random / exploration way (everyone has a default kit that they then expand), though hand picked for combat fun, on top of that if you could then learn these spells.. pretty cool way to gather spells to be honest.

If it encourages SE to go back to some of the earlier 1 to 50 spells and spice them up further that would be super cool. I suppose some could have pvp specific effects, but I imagine a lot of fun tweaks to skills to make them PvP logical would be salvage-able dev time to just make blue magic more fun in general.

PvP specific might be like Snort is oGCD much larger AoE radius and has two charges (and then the spell is gone, all together- removed from your hotbar). But they might find that hey 'this spell oGCD, or with this new mechanic just makes it more fun to use' and bring some of that dev time back into the open world blue. Like Gloom is useful for that one carnival fight but otherwise, imo, feels relatively bad- but I could see they might tweak it for PvP and think about bringing that back into the original skill because it was found to be fun.

During the time this content is active it honestly sounds fun- my primary concern is if it dies off and things are bound around it... Hopefully they will consider this. Like original blue mage was poorly designed with it's dying off / flash in the pan nature (if you were with everyone when it was hot, in a group, you could get cool stuff easily- if you missed that it was a pain in the butt lol). While I still believe the early game experience can be improved, for fun sake, just by having Basic Instinct you can now more readily take control of your own experience if you need to-- and the death of the popularity isn't a major concern. So hopefully they are able, someway, to provide a defense against flash in the pan incidents if they do this.

It would be people spamming the same three instant win spells.

Nothing wrong with this as long as SE is playful with spell balancing. When everyone has access to the same tools you can be very heavy handed with nerfs and buffs.

I mean, if you can't get them when you begin and have to actively find them, so what? IMHO a foolish person would tunnel-vision just to get those three awesome spells instead of adapting with what they have.

I feel they could take this content as an opportunity to enhance the gameplay flow of the job in general, taking as much as possible that they change and just giving it to blue mage as a whole. So there would be many reasons not to just cast one spell over and over again (including pvp specific tweaks where needed, like maybe they modify a spell for pvp fun but also determine specifically in pvp that it has some minor tweaks on top of that like lost after x casts or % is slightly adjusted).
