How do you know FF14 on ps3 wont be 1080p?Well it's certainly something that can't be crossover to the console ports very well.
Half the problem with elegant KB/M interfaces is that this is multiplat.
Ever try to do that on 720p?
What FF14 could benefit from the "WoW" saga is scaling UI. By making everything bigger and smaller for the entire UI, you could do squeeze a lot in there, once you have it memorized. (or just have a high resolution monitor).
Heck we can't even copy and paste.
FF14 has a tough job of making sure the PC port and the PS3(probably) and whatever else ports all get a fair shake.
The drama is insane if FF11 is any historical reference.
Rift is un-importnat...Also, Rift has the system where you can press up and down to change bars like ff14. But if you want more active bars on screen, like in OP's screenshot, you have to go into the interface options and add them in.
I don't see why they couldn't just do this in ff14. Just leave it the same, but add a feature for PC users to add extra ability slots above ur main bar. ALSO MAKE THEM NEVER DISSAPEAR! Thought i should mention that again. Soo annoying.
We're quite sure what it is at this point. We have seen the PS3 version and subsequent PR damage controls of "PS3 is hard to work with, we have to scale back...really!"
We have to face the fact it's going to have be taken down a peg or dozen because of console ports, like FF11 did.

PS2 could not compete with what computers could do. Comparing FF11 on pc to FF11 on PS2 is like comparing Nukes to Fire crackers. FF11 looked like garbage on the PS2. Plus PS3 version isnt going to be a port. We're quite sure what it is at this point. That...tells us nothing we already don't know. Mincing words isn't going to make the situation any better. A port is just a branch of the main code, which is ps3 port.
And both programing and design continually will have to be maintained for the sake of "fairness". The drama of FF11 proves how even the most little things can change to epic flames.
That's why FF11 has such a static UI, and why FF14 will be hindered the same way.
This is not just a PC game, and can not be treated with the same ideas.
