It's not instanced because it's a sort of 'solo' content, you show up solo and get a group of other people together who have done the same thing, ie shown up solo or with one or two other people. Caravan escorts are meant to be solo friendly, and casual friendly content.

Not everyone plays it that way though, I know that we normally do it as a LS, or at least as many of us who want to go at the time, its annoying when you turn up and 8 other people are already there, you either have to give up or fight each other for spaces.

Whole system is crap including behest which uses the same crappy system which has other issues of higher level players ruining it for the proper level ranges, why can't they generate multiple version of the same content with phasing *similar to battleleves*

The counter point to this is that if they did, people could not show up solo and take part in it.

Also Solo friendly is not what caravan is, we barely scraped through with 4 people the other day, how is that solo, I won't argue that its casual friendly though, but its still heavily group reliant.

Because it runs in regular itervals, players know when to show up for the event, or at least know to wait for it to start. This allows players to show up at the npc and do a single run if they want to without needing to commit to a group for hours on end. Really, I should have just said casual friendly, rather than solo friendly.
