    Oceania (OCE) high latency (ping)

    Hi SE,

I am currently experiencing higher than usual ping connecting to OCE server from New Zealand. This ping issue is not related to my home network nor my ISP, my PC is connected via Ethernet/LAN to a router. Connection is optical fibre with 1gbps download and 500mbps upload. I have ran ping test and a tracert using cmd to show it's not an issue on my end. Issue has been ongoing for the last 48 hrs, please fix. Thanks.

Pinging 153.254.80.103 with 32 bytes of data:

Mine is 134 and its annoying as hell. Used to be 30 ms...if this doesnt work soon no use in staying on OCE at all..ping is atrocious for a server in Sydney

The floods caused this most likely. Everyone is getting major latency.

From Melbourne I'm getting an average of 236ms in-game after the outage the other day. Absolutely horrible to play.

Running a VPN has taken my average from 236 to 92 after selecting a server from Melbourne and around 100 from Sydney. Seems to be routing issue towards the Sydney server as we're both ping places from all over the shop.

Although 92ms is still higher than my normal (30), it's a lot more playable than my 236.

I'd recommend using a a VPN at this stage. There's a few that offer 30 day money back offers which should hopefully offer Square Enix/ISP's time to remedy this issue.

EDIT: Forgot to add that I'm with Optus.

As the problem seemingly resides at Telstra in Kent Street - and the internet has routed around it - it really needs Telstra to fix it.

As I am on ABB I can't talk to them, but if someone who uses big pond can provide traceroutes to their helpdesk then things might happen.

Unless someone tells them, it will never be resolved.

Telstra is not an ISP, how many times do I have to SAY this?

See the NBN, Telstra is no longer a service providor in any way. The NBN is the service providor and ISP, Telstra is a RETAIL service that handles plans etc, they have NOTHING to do with the infrastructure.

    Nothing.

Sorry, this time you are wrong.

NBN only own the infrastructure from your houses pit to one of the 121 POI's throughout the country. After that, your isp runs the data from the NBN POI to their gateways and on to other RSP networks including NTT. This is why ABB customers are not affected. Just anyone that gets routed through the Telstra networks - and this includes people in New Zealand who don't even touch the NBN.

"POIs are where the RSP networks (networks built and operated by retail service providers) connect to the nbn™ network, which in turn connects to the end user." - https://www.nbnco.com.au/blog/the-nb...he-nbn-network - "This is an important point to remember – the nbn™ network sits between the POI and the end user’s premises. It is not responsible for all internet traffic transmission within Australia."

Telstra own the routers in Kent Street, not NBN. Telstra are the correct people to speak to.

Yeah it's almost like when FFXIV decided to buy a server in Sydney they should of made sure that we would all go report there problems for them, Yeah man great talk!

Like this is a fucking joke honestly, I never got a disconnection i was actually downloading BO3 which was 100 Gbs alone and then i added 140 gbs of addons (mainly maps), Was always at max speed, Was even using streaming services on a 4K television, I don't know if any of you were alive during the outage but it was obviously not on our side.

These people released the Housing System which was obviously not ready, all because they wanted to trick players into buying another months worth of game time, Now they've done it again with 6.18 Saying that "PVP Season 1 Will End and Season 2 Will Begin!" & "Data Center Travel now Available!"

If they honestly gave half a shit about players not being tricked they would have made an announcement with an actual timeframe but why do that when you can have players probably think it's out since fuck all was said about it & they end up going and buying a month early...

Sydney Based Community Servers were still up
    Download at Max rates
    Upload at Max rates
    Streaming Services were up
EVERYTHING WAS LITERALLY UP EXCEPT FOR FFXIV (MAYBE THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING I DUNNO)
