I'm kinda curious if I'm the only one thinking this so I'd like to hear feedback of any kind but please keep the discussion clean. The goal is to work together for a better PvP idea!
So I'll start with the issue I see and my suggestion.
I don't feel like any of the jobs are equally balanced as there are some better than others in different ways that's too big of a list to go over which also feel just leads to different opinions. If you were to ever have a 1v1 moment, some would feel one job has a better chance of winning.Like tanks and WHM being the worse jobs to 1v1 against as any other job. I had a friend who wouldn't fight me when I picked PLD to 1v1. Also, have you seen two tanks go at each other 1v1? The fight can last for an hour if both heal themselves properly. I also feel we need much less self-healing and just better defense or HP to help live longer properly rather than pointless healing that only adds to more button-mashing.
There's also only ONE strategy to this game and that simply focuses on one person with your team to widdle down the enemy. The first team to successfully do this is the team that gets the upper hand. This causes things to feel dragged out in a long run...

So I believe if you have a better 1v1 system, you can eliminate a lot of these issues. Something to feel like I'm actually having fun with the first small and simple step before branching out to bigger events. This can give better ideas on what each job needs to help stand out better and what needs to be tweaked to balance.
Once having this, things can move further with group events. Add fun items that help and change the PvP up a bit. There are already items you can pick up to heal, so we don't need self-healing. Those items can feel more valuable and feel it's not all about focusing on one person.
Why not have us grab a grenade, a cannon, or a key to trigger a trap that only benefits the team that picked it up.
