    I think the key thing is that the other games also have an extremely streamlined crafting system. GW2 has maybe 5 or 6 different metal ingots maybe.. and that's it for metal. There's simply no need for a harvest log because if you're building something for a max level character, the materials needed are found in every max level zone. Every max level tree drops "Ancient Wood", every max level ore drops "Orichalcum ore". With the exception of area specific niche skin stuff, you never need to go to different zones.

    The only crafting line that IS a bit complicated is cooking because it at least tries to emulate "real" recipes.

    The thing that FFXIV has full on crafting/gathering jobs is what makes the devs make more and more new materials (imho), and it's not really a good call.

    A better call to me would have been to do like EQ2 to utilize old materials + something new, so instead of like "somethingsomething Gold", they could have just used legit old school Gold plus "something something reagent", to keep old materials relevant.

    It's not that a dedicated material storage is a bad idea like GW2 has, it's that there's just too many materials that are incredibly unnecessary, especially given how easy it is to gather them in the wild.

    Halve the Key Items inventory and add a Currency tab - or better yet, somehow make Currencies move to Key Items. Would be great if Raid tokens were included in this. Leave the inventory for crafting/crafted materials.
