Running Firefox in background causing guaranteed client crash

After XIV patch 6.18, running Firefox (Version 102.0.1 (64-bit)) in the background causes XIV to constantly crash on my Acer laptop (Windows 10 Home Edition - 10.0.19044).

Was able to isolate the issue since all crashes instantly stopped when Firefox was closed.

    Maybe some cross-interference?

Plugins maybe? My Firefox isn't causing issues.

Thirded, I use Firefox also and although I don't keep it running in the background all the time, the times I do use it when running FFXIV I've had no issues like this.

I do know the latest version of Firefox can be a resources hog though especially if you're running lots of plugins and apps with it, so if your laptop only has a small amount of memory, Firefox may be clogging up the RAM, and more often than not will crash as a result, especially if you're running it at the same time as another program like FFXI (even more so with FFXIV given that games are resource intensive by their nature).

But without knowing your system specs it's hard to say (laptops are rather more prone to this due to tending to have more limited RAM and disk space).

Outstanding! Thank you very much for taking the time to answer. I do indeed have a history of Mem issues on other games with my trusty Acer Nitro 5 (AN517-53) with 8 GB, DDR4 SDRAM.

Albeit so far i've never had any issues with running Firefox in the background of XIV! (i'm a notorious alt-tabber-browser, so i must)

Neither do i run any Firefox plugins at all, aside from Mozillas own video codec as well as some Google video codec. I guess the most likely culprit is Firefox' propensity to sudden memory hogging leading to games getting choked out (this same error happened to me when playing World of Warcraft too).

Thanks again all y'all for your time and feedback
