The data traveler system doesn't look a trivial thing to do. But well, I will not discuss with armchair programmers here, who think because they know how to make a Hello World in python thinks they are experts.

now i'll admit that ff does have shortcomings with making content last
Yoshi-P understands MMOs so he puts mount grinds into content. It feels that you only have to do the content once if you are a casual player, but if you are a completionist the mount farms turn it into forever content. There might be better ways to do it, but making it work for both casual and hardcore players at the same time is an achievement, compared with the WoW approach of making it required even for a casual player.

In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

You know, that is the most asinine comment one can make in these forums. It's right up there with "billion dollar company". Neither phrase is meaningful, and the irony was "ironed" out of those phrases years ago.

Let's not forget things like relics and tomestone events, keeping everything relevant.

More to the point, why is the relationship between us and the devs presented as a personal one when it's actually a business arrangement? There arent supposed to be emotional responses from the businesses side, that's just plain unprofessional. Maybe the stifling work culture in japan means they have thinner skin than us in the west, who knows. All I know is that it isnt our responsibility to cater our responses for the sake of someones emotions we're never gonna meet. They either take the feedback and act on it, or they ignore it and create more feedback. And it seems they routinely choose the latter. The ToS is so heavyhanded, this is a problem they themselves have partially created. I've never seen a fanbase so on edge and passive aggressive, and there's a reason for that. (Hint, it's nothing to do with the fans).

There was another mmo a decade ago, where the forums were a constant back and forth between "white knights" and "complainers" and very little feedback was looked upon. That was wow. Now look at wow. Not exactly in a good way is it? I apologise for not wanting to see XIV go the same way
    Firmly agreed.

I've always found the insistence that people need to treat the development team like they're close friends to be pretty weird. It's not how I go about conducting business with a corporation. A small, independent local business that I frequent weekly and find myself on first name terms with the employees? Sure - but even then, their goal is to make money first and foremost.

Even polite feedback towards FFXIV is brushed aside these days because elements of the community itself treat absolutely any criticism whatsoever as some sort of personal attack.

In reality, some people are just more brash or blunt than others...and if they're not breaching the terms of service then there's no real need for other posters to take it upon themselves to police tone or content of someone else's posts.

Especially since I very rarely see the people doing it towards 'negative' feedback take issue with those who swoop in and start directly insulting anyone providing criticism towards the game as a 'hater' or worse.

It's very likely that we wouldn't even have the missing genders for viera and hrothgar if not for the negative feedback. So there's certainly merit to the idea of applying tactical pressure as a paying customer.

I mean, data center travel is working fine now, right? And the wait times will only lessen as the feature becomes less novel. Frankly, it's impressive that they got it under control in only a day.

Don't try to play MMOs on patch days guys, the Monster Hunter Expansion just came out anyway, there's better stuff to do.

The devs have said multiple times before ( including Yoshi-P himself and Toshio ) that the forums are toxic as hell and needlessly stressful and that they just stop reading comments because of this crap.
If you lot care about actual change then you'd find it within yourselves to drop the needless antagonism towards them for five minutes.
All that you're doing is make the devs ignore and not read threads and your own comments.

It's completely counter-productive and causes actual harm to the game, then the same people sit around whining about how they're not listening.
If you want to give feedback then give feedback without pointless attacks attached to every single comment.

Far too many people treat '' feedback and criticism '' on this forum as just blatant vitriol and venting, and it's actually holding the game back and making it more difficult to communicate with the devs.
So my question is where should we go to voice are concerns? I mean seriously there are concerns for this game since they relaunched it and nothing really changed .

Whos fault is that we dont have an active gm in our forums anymore remember when we had one back in hw and they stepped down?

At this point this is just getting sad. We have people bring up old post the 2014 or later. People bring up things like lgbtq matters and they have nothing to do with and people always and i mean always falls for it.

were was the sticky at to let people know that make one mega thread for job concerns etcs?

We have been asking for more interesting content for years and nothing was done until now. People always say oh look at the content that we are getting. But its the same bit of content that we get every other patch which is nothing new.

Take in consideration how they started doing one dungeon a patch. remember we had 3 before , then two , now one. Every dungeon is so linear just a different paint job on it.

Job changes every time we make concern about jobs, you know what happens? we get told thats the job is fine or go play something else ( look at drk on how they took a long time to fix LD people legit thought it was fine but tell that a healer that does not know how it does.)

If they want to combat forum to "toxity" then they need to put the money that gain from from 14 and pays someone

Heck got another example for you. Someone made a post about them adding different music for the mounts. Some of the new mounts in game or mog station mounts have the same generic mount music. Want to know what someone posted that got more likes then op. " I to am glad that soken is okay" Do not get me wrong i think everyone is was glad that he was okay , however there are more people on the music team then just him.

for a year, would you rather be secretly filmed at random moments and have the footage uploaded to your social media or loose $100 when ever you said a curse word?

Here, just without the toxic attitude present even in your own comment (not this quoted part specifically, but further down). Act like a decent human being respectfully offering suggestion, get treated like one and your ideas taken more seriously. Spend your time actively attacking the dev team, get (rightfully) ignored.

The subject of this very thread acts as if something disastrous and new has just started happening with EW. News flash: patch day issues have occurred with practically every patch in every single MMO for the past 20 years. It's a simple reality that mature people realize and accept. Acting as if the sky is falling and ripping the dev team for it is both completely uncalled for and completely counter-productive.

It's not like they didn't do anything. The demand was higher than their capacity to meet it, so they suspended it and slowly rolled it back out over the course of a day so that they wouldn't be hit with an absurd amount of demand all over again.

Really, if I'm Yoshi-P, I'd be pretty happy to tell my bosses, "yeah, this feature we added was very popular and we had some problems for the first 24 hours, but they're under control now."

If I got a day's paid vacation for every time I told someone not to waste their vacation days on an MMO's launch, expansion launch, or patch day, at this point I'd never have to work again.
