Too many alt troll accounts gumming up the works.
If you look beyond the company, there are developers with real emotions. People can be critical, but they should word it politely. Why would developers want to continue listening to us or even working for SE if their customers are always rude to them and attack them on a personal level?
It's possible to word criticism politely and respectfully. It got bad enough that Yoshi-P had to bring it up recently. He had to reconsider whether to force developers to read things that were making them unhappy.
Why would they want to continue working for SE if they are attacked for everything whatever decision they make? They need praise sometimes, but if you look on these forums, they never really get it.
Nor is it a nice relationship to be in where you "say MeAn WoRdS" and are not "super nice and polite". The relationship goes both ways.If you were in a relationship (in any relation) and you had to "watch your words" and walk on eggshells to avoid the other party ignoring you, that's definitely not a nice relationship to be in.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

I feel like the only direction this game has taken since launch is up↑. Quality and story↑ , population and popularity ↑↑, people's outrage and blood pressure↑↑↑↑↑↑.
Journey to all fish: 1383/1729 (348 remaining) [79%]
Plus inventory plus expansions plus cash shop. You don't pay just X amount for the "COMPLETE" game. You pay X amount for access to some of the game. Not compare that to FFXV which I think you can get the complete game for 50ish.
They're trying to invent new and interesting things on top of a poorly optimized engine that can barely maintain the game as it is. Technical Debt is creeping up.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
honestly i would not mind if one of the major patches (like 6.3) was dedicated entirely to fixing and maintaining everything that's on the verge of flying apart by the seams.
Besides a global pandemic, supply chain and work disruptions, an escalating war in Europe, looming recession, impending climate catastrophe, and bitter social and political division and upheaval?
Not much I guess. I'm glad we get to play a fun game like FFXIV, even if it has had some issues.

you call this a major patch?
If I messed up like they did I'd be out of a job real quick. You act like they dont earn a salary/benefits. Is a complaint not worth twice a complement anymore? More to the point, why is the relationship between us and the devs presented as a personal one when it's actually a business arrangement? There arent supposed to be emotional responses from the businesses side, that's just plain unprofessional. Maybe the stifling work culture in japan means they have thinner skin than us in the west, who knows. All I know is that it isnt our responsibility to cater our responses for the sake of someones emotions we're never gonna meet. They either take the feedback and act on it, or they ignore it and create more feedback. And it seems they routinely choose the latter. The ToS is so heavyhanded, this is a problem they themselves have partially created. I've never seen a fanbase so on edge and passive aggressive, and there's a reason for that. (Hint, it's nothing to do with the fans). If you look beyond the company, there are developers with real emotions. People can be critical, but they should word it politely. Why would developers want to continue listening to us or even working for SE if their customers are always rude to them and attack them on a personal level?

There was another mmo a decade ago, where the forums were a constant back and forth between "white knights" and "complainers" and very little feedback was looked upon. That was wow. Now look at wow. Not exactly in a good way is it? I apologise for not wanting to see XIV go the same way
