It should definatly have this feature. EQ2 did it nicely and they even went one step further, when someone got a rare drop it would say something in guild chat like "Kyra Narese has received the Darklight Heavy Armor Body" and it was great, you could mouse over the link to check its stats (which would also show you your body armor your wearing and auto compare it) and grats the person who got the drop.

We dont actualy have guilds in this game atm though, we have linkshells and they are just glorified ways to socialise with other players. Linkshells have not even 1% of the features a proper guild should have. Hopefully Free companies will be better. Sorry to go off topic.

Correct. Auto-linking important drop events (ideally only non-tradeable events, to allow privacy) is a desirable bonus (something that could be toggled on and off, independently from other things in chat). You also point to a more comprehensive gear/inventory comparison feature, and I couldn't agree more. We should be able to see the result of a comparison with the equivalent item we have equipped, or the item you pre-select in a search. This should happen for all full stats and attributes, without restriction of item nature, or selected item location.
