I would love to have this, I liked how EVE was doing with that feature. One more thing that I would want is clicking any character name in chat to send an invite or /tell instead of typing their names. Too long name can make a mistake easily.

yes yes yes yes yes

We should be able to link not only items, but even quests, actions etc.
And i hope they will implement "right click feature" .. For example: right click on a character to see
all the possible interaction, like invite, follow, tell, examine etc.
Last thing i would be able to click on character names in chat to tell them directly, or right click on them > invite..
Well all these things should make ffxiv ui at least at the same level of other mmorpg.

Lol I have been playing this game for so long I had forgoten such features were the norm in other mmos. This would be so nice to be able to do. Instead of typing out /pcmd add "insert players ridiculously long name here". Making your own party and inviting players that send you tells which you cant actualy see to click on is one of the most anoying things in this game. The more i think about it the more it makes sense that version 2.0 with a new client/server structure was there only way out of the mess tanaka made with the game.We should be able to link not only items, but even quests, actions etc.

Well, while we're at this, why not:
1) CTRL + Click, to see how an item looks on your character? This is pretty much goes hand in hand with Item linking, and a standard in other MMOs.
2) CTRL + left click while in AH to search that item automatically, without typing "Electrum ring" for example. This is also standard, and goes hand in hand with item linking.
I can't think of any downsides at all.
You can hate WoW as much as you want, but they did these right.

The dev's need to see this. This NEEDS to be in 2.0, especially the ability to click on characters names in the log to /tell or invite them to parties, LSs, etc. Should be able to click on items/loot in the log in general. I hate how when something drops, it goes into one person's loot instead of the whole party's loot, so you have no idea of the stats of the item. If we were able to click it in the log to see it, that'd be awesome.

Yes yes yes! Being able to click names in chat, and item linking, are both fantastic quality-of-life features.

I, too, support this idea. However, my only concern is how they can implement this for PS3 users.. either it will be a PC-only feature, or make use of some clever way of 'clicking' the text in chat.
