Seconding this. I was a part of this vigil for the sake of my friends in the game, don't let it take away from time and effort you can spare on actual activism.
Hot Take: We shouldn't advertise any sort of non-holiday events etc in-game. You want to celebrate other things, mourn, debate etc then go do it outside the game. These things have no place in FFXIV.

Hotter take: I want to do away with rl holiday events in game and replace them with in game lore holidays.
Bole's Blessing event is starting! Why? It's May 17, the day the great tree was planted!
They kind of do this. They take a real holiday like Christmas, rebrand it to Starlight Celebration and it does accomplishes both celebrating Christmas irl and some lore holiday ingame.
I would like to thank the OP for the afford. With how often the GM teams got flak being accused of doing nothing, your post is an important reminder that the GM still silently continue doing their work to afford us a place where can enjoy our down time in peace. Your complain is a well deserve praise to the GM teams.
On a serious note: I hate virtue signalling. You people don't understand context and important of time and place. Do you know the saying "one death is a tragedy, 1000 deaths is just a statistic" ? I don't think people like you realize how much self-damage you're doing to the issue by just overloading the informational channel regardless of time and place. It's because of behavior of people like you that most issues eventually drown out of people as background noise.
Your behavior is no more annoying than those solicited called we get all the times at home. I don't care if people is calling behalf of "feeding the children" or "society of cancer care", they are annoying, period. A second issue with people virtue signaler like you is you often so high up in your own mighty virtue arse that you perceive anyone not like of your meaningless action as "not caring about the issue". Taking a wild guess, a lot of people disagreeing with you in this thread probably had done more for this cause than your meaningless stunt.
I have a monthly donation set up for charity, but I can also tell you I slam the phone on any charity solicited call I get when I'm resting at home, with the number immediate block. I hope you're not dense enough that your "effort" is achieving the same affect on other people. People like you are like young voters, always rile up and spend all that energy rumbling up noise instead of focusing on actual meaningful action with half can't be arse to vote. Politic is the way it is because the people you dislike don't spend time and energy on useless stunt, but do what matter when it counts. You talk, they act.

I actually agree with you 100% on this, I never really thought about it before but now that you mentioned it I'd find this to be 500 times more fun and interesting.
Especially since tbh most irl holidays are kinda boring imo.
Fantasy holidays could be so much more fun and unique.
That's typically why there's no arguing with these people, they will say anything that fits their narrative. Most of us just want to be left alone and they will come knocking on your door whether you like it or not.
this is like advertising, the more you spit it in people faces, the more annoyed the people will become
you really did show your lawmakers by doing an abortion protest in a damn video game
So raising Abortion issues in-game is ok, but not gun control? /thinking
