It's basically Animal Crossing. Create your own "base", let your minions roam free, craft special items that can be sold for island currency, and there's an economy for the islands apparently. So basically Animal Crossing.

Thanks!!!! Hmm sounds pretty interesting to try out ^_^
I have a secret to tell. From my electrical well. It's a simple message and I'm leaving out the whistles and bells. So the room must listen to me Filibuster vigilantly. My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e. My story's infinite Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn't rest- TMBG Birdhouse in your Soul
A huge THANK YOU!!!! For FINALLY selling the Meteor Survivor Polo on the store. AND a huge thanks to my friend who bought it for me while he was at Fan Fest!!! YES I finally have my POLO!!!

Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, Rune Factory, and Stardew Valley are clearly influences for this Island Sanctuary mode. I'm extremely excited, because the farm sim genre is one of my all time favorites.

And Island Sanctuary will not really compare to any of those since XIV's design team dislikes coupling content together into the main progression, unlike... well, literally all of those games.

It's a big island, you can explore it, capture things on it, grow plants, craft stuff, etc. for turning in for special currency. Can put some facilities and what-not on it too.
Basically, it looks fairly involved but also totally separate from the rest of the game. I expect it'll be fairly divisive content, some people will love it and want the devs to spend more time working on it, others will hate it and demand the devs stop working on it altogether.

People have been asking for savage 4 man dungeons and who expected them to announce it? Pretty amazing in my view. I saw the first part of the introduction and saw that word CASUAL and thought oh god now people will not be happy.
Was amazed to listen to the remainder of that introduction.
Not that I'm on that spectrum, but I think even with the tag people will need to temper their expectations of the difficulty regardless. To put it into perspective -- Is it actually savage, or is it 'Endsinger will be equivalent to the earlier floors of savage' savage? (They did oversell and overextend on the difficulty of Endsinger, after all) Or is it savage because an underpinning mechanic is that all methods of resurrection are prohibited?

I guess that remains to be seen obviously. The limited resurrection issues remind me of BA and DRS so that component proves to be an interesting addition. Personally I don't do savage but these dungeons are something I might very well give a try. I have a group of friends who are looking forward to it so we'll see how that goes. Not that I'm on that spectrum, but I think even with the tag people will need to temper their expectations of the difficulty regardless. I was happy to see that they at least appear to be giving the savage raiders and midcore content a spin with these 4 man dungeons and personally I was happy to see it given I know there are many who have been asking for that content for awhile.
The doomers are sleeping at the moment. Wait till wake up and start posting again.
You missed the part where it gets drip-fed. If we get all of this content I wont complain, but I'll be very very surprised if it's all there on launch.New dungeon.
New trial.
New variant dungeon.
New criterion dungeon.
New criterion dungeon (savage).
New raids.
New savage raids.
And a lot of other things such as popular quests and a beast tribe.
New relics.
But I have no doubt people on these forums will find a way to say there is less content.
