Okay so hildi quests could have just not been a requirement and literally nothing in neither the relic quest nor the hildi quest would have had to be changed.

Looks like they used one specific plot element mentioned at the very end to tie things together. Felt tacked on more than anything, but it is what it is I suppose.
Yeah it seemed very odd you had to clear the story that was released with the patch and then there's not really anything in the story that meaningfully links them
Honestly.., it would of been more fluid plot wise, if they had godbert just slide in/nod/nudge-nudge that they'd like to speak to us after.., but they shoved it in to the story pretty hard.
but either way..,
<off topic.., what's the best Astro-tomes grind..,?>
but yeah, i have no problem with it being tied to hildibrand.., I get that some will find it a struggle. but tbh, it makes sense..,
it's largely split off from the larger antics of the main Hildebrand series. but it does poke its head in.
It's mostly disappointing to me because I'll basically just be skipping any cutscenes throughout this relic line. Hildibrand is just not my sense of humor and I'm glad it's a side quest that people can enjoy on their own. I did actually watch the first cutscenes and tried to just hope that I could get into it, but once we got to Godbert slamming into the ground with a Looney Tunes outline, I knew I was just going to continue to be disinterested.Honestly.., it would of been more fluid plot wise, if they had godbert just slide in/nod/nudge-nudge that they'd like to speak to us after.., but they shoved it in to the story pretty hard.

I'm glad for the people that actually enjoy that content and story, it just isn't for me. I just wish it wasn't now directly linked to a form of gearing/progression. There doesn't seem to be a good reason why they are intertwined.
you had 3 months to get them done, quit your crying
Hildibrand isn't everyone's cup of tea for sure, and that's fine. Guessing this was their way of killing two birds with more stone. More Hildi "story" and relic weapon grinds in one fell swoop. More Godbert is never a bad thing for me, so I don't mind.It's mostly disappointing to me because I'll basically just be skipping any cutscenes throughout this relic line. Hildibrand kept me on the edge of my seat. Better then MSQ and more likeable characters...and the WoL actually does stuff. Happy camper I am.
Hildibrand is..... a thing, yeah. But you know what the real sin is?
The new relics being an ARR-style grind. Once upon a time, the near entire community loathed this manner of relic acquisition process. Wonder what changed?
Oh, right. Endwalker happened and suddenly no matter what, Yoshi-P became an infallible god overnight and literally nothing ever went wrong with FFXIV ever again.
