“Honey, what’s wrong? You haven’t touched your Hyperconductive Senior Sabotender Blade.”
Looking forward to it.

I absolutely hate it, and I don't know how anyone behind this decision thoguht it was a good idea.
Anyone I talked to (not talking about people on these forums of course) hates the idea as much or much much more.
Really sad to see something everybody was looking forward to, especially SGE and RPR mains, locked behind a quest chain that a great portion of the playerbase absolutely detests.
And no, it's not just the pre-requisite. They said the progression is quest-based, so I imagine the whole relic progression is tied to more Hildibrand/Manderville humor quests unquely. And it's not even "just skip cutscenes", especially if quests are all the relic grind you get. And yeah, I also expect them to look like joke weapons, similar to the Saucer ones.
And to those who say "they're just skins, if you don't like them don't do it": no, they're not just skin. They're powerful weapons, and BiS on their last step. It's only side content up to a point.
Oh, and I'm someone who did do the whole questchain up to Kugane Ohashi, both for the BLU spells and for the mentor roulette. And I deeply regretted it. Not only going through the quests is painful even if you skip, the trials are very unfun and pretty wipey (they're hard whle not being the fun type of hard either), so unlocking them kinda screws your trials roulette forever.
Anyway I'll probably just skip it, but I'm neither a raider who needs BiS, nor a SGE or RPR main who's excitedly awaiting their first glowy weapon.
I'll just take my time finishing resistance weapons and start working on some of the older ones, but I'll miss the fun of working on new stuff with friends (which probably won't be possible anyway since progression is quest-based so probably solo).
Because it's not about knowing the players. It's about knowing the content. It's niche, optional content so it is just common sense to know that not only will the content not appeal to everyone, it will indeed appeal to very specific players. That's a big problem. Imagine requiring players to do tribe quests, squadrons, or custom deliveries in order to advance the relic. Same thing on all accounts.I'm curious as to how that you would know that of the players that are interested in the relic- and I have no idea of how many complete this completely optional content - how would you know "Devs need to see by making these kind of decisions they cater to a minority while pissing off the majority. These are not good decisions"
Relic grinds making players go into PvE content is fine. Incentivizing relic grinders to run older content helps new players. Forcing a player to do Hildabrand does this, how?
It's not an opinion that more players are interested in the relic than Hildabrand. It's also not an opinion that a lot of players don't want to be required to do a long questline on top of another long questline to obtain said relic. Those are facts whether you choose to see them as such or not. And if you need more convincing, you only need to look at the fact that the devs chose to gate the relic behind the Hildabrand questline.I understand that it's your opinion, and clearly there are others in this thread that share that opinion. However others do not. I could understand if you're disappointed in a decision - even if many details haven't been released as yet- however there are likely a fair amount of people who are looking forwards to the new relic.
I hated every last bit of Endwalker's story so Hildy, my waifu, being back was a colossal relief I'm really looking forward to this.
THAT SAID I hope the weapon contest designs are not relics, those should be event rewards or new MGP prizes.
Not to mention the weapon contest winners dont follow any kind of theme and most relics have some similar aesthetical theming to them beyond just the glow.
There’s a difference between having an odd funny moment every now and then and it being shoved into everything including being extremely prominent in the expansjon about the end of the world and mass extinction. But anyhow have to say it’s sad to see this game slowly go in the direction it once was from serious, gritty and meaningful to now resorting to childish comedy to keep players entertained.
Yes and since its is own separate content you are forced to use it if you want to do the relic weapon at all. With this one, the only information we have is, that you need to have gone through the Hildibrand quests. Something which is done once. Afterwards the relic could be like they were in other expansions where you can farm it from normal content. So bascially if you skip the cutscenes of Hildibrand and do these quests in a few hours the whole relic could still be good. If you dont like Eureka you have no chance to gain the relic any other way.Eureka is its own separate content, designed for people who are interested in its unique mechanics and progress. Hildibrand is something you need to go through in order to even UNLOCK the separate content for the relic. They're not comparable. The only comparison that would have been fair would be the need to clear Return to Ivalice to unlock Bozja.
I mean we averted the apocalypse so Yshtola could immediately open a portal to hell instead of, idk, using the freaking rocket we have docked in Labyrinthos to go to the first so this is a massive step up, quite frankly. There’s a difference between having an odd funny moment every now and then and it being shoved into everything including being extremely prominent in the expansjon about the end of the world and mass extinction. TBF Im sure they'll staple some annoying crap to do to get relic mats like pray to god your criterion dungeon party isnt 3/4ths blindingly incompetent (theres still people not using essences in bozja!) at their job to get 1 mat per run...12.5% of the time.Yes and since its is own separate content you are forced to use it if you want to do the relic weapon at all. This sums up my thoughts nicely. This whole thread boils down to: It's ok if you don't like this content or Hildebrand. Plenty of people disliked Bozja and Eureka as well. They can't make everyone happy all the time. Personally I'm excited to see what Eorzea's greatest blacksmith and goldsmith will bring.
I greatly disliked Bozja, however I still managed to squeeze out a couple of relics for my jobs. I skipped Eurekan relics all together. It's up to each person to decide whether or not the weapon itself is going to be worth the potential slog. I imagine most of us have suffered through content we don't enjoy solely for the rewards. Just add this to that pile if Hildebrand isn't your thing.
With that said, I am excited for more Hildy! Bring on the silliness.
