and that's fair, but for people to say that this is dumb, or the worst thing ever because they are required to do side content to unlock the new relic weapon are just being whiny. they probably also whined about Bozja requiring the Ivalice raids because the idea of new content being tied to older content is just soooooo unacceptable.
