Hildibrand for relic? Really?

Personally, I do not think there should be any side content prerequisites for relic related content. Ivalice being required in ShB was as big of a mistake as requiring all of Hildibrand: it forces players to potentially interact with content they do not find enjoyable for the sake of generating a lead in to a long grind fest. In reality, doing the side content the relic is based off of should just provide the player with alternate dialogue and additional context more than anything.

What I find most appalling is the community shredding itself over differences of opinion. It is rather telling when people who enjoy particular pieces of content refer to it as "making this group suffer" when they are told they need to do old side content to do relevant content, particularly related to relic which is something people do play the game to grind out. Understand when I say this, it may seem targeted at a specific group of players, however it is not, there are other cases of this that I have witnessed through the years of me playing the game where people refer to it as such.

Personal attacks on other community members will not help out the community, let alone this discussion. It shows specific people do not really care about the game and its development. Rather, for these individuals, all they care about is watching players that do not do specific pieces of content that they enjoy suffer through it.

While I know the devs would (hopefully) never do this, consider if the requirement for the relic was completion of the previous Ultimate Raids, or even Savage Raids. It is a rather extreme example but sometimes these examples are required to show why making specific arguments are inherently flawed.

Idk, can we not be happy they are trying something different? I personally miss Hildy. I see players complain they are homogenizing the game but they don't want to let them try anything different when they do. Can we pick a lane?

I was actually thinking of George Carlin too, his comedy revolves mostly around pointing out dumb and illogical things in society, in other words stupidity.
Regardless tho I don't think this is something worth getting worked up about lol ( not directed at you ).

Not sure whether they were being actually serious about this or not, but either way it's bad form to require such an absurdly long questline to be completed before we can do this expansion’s relic. I don’t even think Ivalice is as time consuming, and at least acts as a skill check on the playerbase.

Just why?

Because relic weapons are always a pain in the ass. ALWAYS. They teased us last expac; making the first two to three steps faceroll easy before essentially locking it behind Bozja, which I refuse to play more than casually (or at all really) due to it being the terrible stepchild of Diadem and Eureka and honestly, just no.

This is likely the devs getting back at the large portion of the community who has demanded Hildibrand to be in each expansion (to my delight--this isn't me complaining).

Considering I've only completed one Zodiac weapon (50), two relics from HW (60), one partial relic from Stormblood, and about 6 partial from ShB, well... Hopefully there's no instanced content tied to these. Because it'll just be more content I skip. Hopefully they are not hideous like the final form relics from last expac or I'll likely be passing them entirely.

I'll accept joke weapons if they're done right. Example, first stage for SGE weapons are paper airplanes. Final stage end up being models (like the kind you make with model kits) of a fighter plane of some kind. You know, goes from low class to high class joke weapons (that look kind of cool as a result).

Or another example, a normal sign you'd find on any road as the starting WAR weapon. Final result is a neon sign saying "Manderville".

Im 100% On Board with The next New Hildebrand Storyline Tieing into the Next Relic.
The idea of the next series being "Manderville Weapons" sounds absolutly awesome, and if they are joke weapons, I would LOVE that.

Not everything needs to be so serious, and people always complain about the Devs not thinking outside the box and doing something new and different.
Frankly, I think its good if we might be getting another HW style Weapon Grind. Eureka..I dont care, screw doing that place. Bozja, I loved it but I can agree with the flaws with its system, eureka as much as I hated it was future proofed while Bozja wasn't.
So, instead of doing another wide zone, why not an old school grind?
I am ALL for it.

I would love that too. Joke weapons can still look good and in the end relic will just end up being glamour anyway.

But I do understand that someone does not like it. They maybe should still wait until the content is out before they judge it though.
