Having a bit to chew on it honestly I think it sounds fun! After the kettle quest it’s not really that much sillier and you can get through it pretty quick if you’re not interested and just skip.

I made a Barista glamour with those kettles. xD Pretty sure after we do the whole relic quest, we'll get something similar but with Godbert making the special gag weapon reward even better. xD
Probably a roundabout way to get people to play the questline. They did spend quite a lot of time and money on it even if it splits opinions hard.
I have no idea where they are going with it, Dalmasca had potential to be Bozja like zone but got resolved in the Bozja notes. Maybe they won't even use new side area for it.
I guess it could potentially have something to do with Gilgamesh looking for better weapons or Godbert crafting?
Well, they are probably the weapon design contest weapons.
So makes sense to have them with hildi.
But after that you have some more steps.
So I'm looking forward to the Eureka/Bozja/relic content to further upgrade the weapon's.

Ill say tho hildibrand much much easier to speed through than ivalice you can just unsync the 3 lvl 50 trials and there is only one more trial in SB so just be cutscene skipping sim
I think those will go to the crystal conflict vendor TBH
I am a bit disappointed by it, but someone said the HW and SB quests aren't nearly as long as ARR so I will probably knock them out when I come back for 6.2. Thankfully did the ARR bit for the blue mage spells way back when it was still level 50 cap.

I prefer for it not to require it because it took me years to get round to it, but a lot of people get new players to do these quests so most people have done it. If they really don't like the Hilidibrand story, they can skip the cutscenes and replay it when they change their mind. At least it's just for this expansion and the weapons won't be relevant in the next one.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

Need to see what the quest line is about. Personally I loved Eureka and Bozja but will reserve comment until we learn more. If it's a return to the HW relic style of farming old content I won't be happy.

Queueing into any of the Hildy trials on Materia DC is a huge pain in the neck due to how few people have them unlocked. Requiring them for relics = more people will unlock them = more people will get them in Trial Roulette. This is a win in my book.
(Also, the ARR Hildy quests may have been tedious and annoying, but the HW and ShB ones were Solidly Okay.)

Honestly? I love this idea. I cannot wait to see just how the story unfolds and how Hildy, Greg and the others are involved in this epic quest. It will be a nice change of pace from how relics where forged in the past, I hope. As for it being locked behind a quest-chain, thats fair, but I like how they are giving players a reason to do the older content. It does not feel too different to me from how the Shadowbringer ones where behind the SB raids.
