Dress Material and Mariner Cotton Cloth drop rates are awful.

Yes I know RnG be RnG kupo. Yet I know that somehow somewhere I pissed off the RnG gods so more likely than not I tend to have crap luck with drop rates. Anyway for those who don't know these two mats make things like the Sailor Shirt, Moonfire swim gear, Beach Chair and the Spring Dress.

Yet they only drop from lv 50 maps. They both drop from the Unhidden Leather Map which is only from having it as a drop from lv 40 and 50 maps. Want to know what you'll most likely get from Peisteskin, Boarskin and the Unhidden Leather maps? Thavnairian Mistletoe, Belah'dian Silver and a Moonstone.

It would be nice if they adjusted some of the older maps or took some things out from the pool like the Aetherial pink gear and the potions. I mean heck I haven't even seen a Blue Bird which has been given more ways to obtain it. Nor the Wind-up Tonberry which also has the same amount of places as the Blue Bird.

That's for one not both and doesn't change the fact the drop rate for both seem to be horrendous and thar older maps loot lists should probably be looked at and readjusted. If I were to go the sell and buy route I'd either break even or lose money as at least on my server the maps and mats are about the same amount if not one costing more than the other. Course it would be nice if they adjusted the gain a map timers or the amount you could get on the older maps. Not that I feel they should spend time on this over more important QoL

The game badly needs more rare items and things worth spending gil on or hunting for. Nothing is sacred in this game, every old minion, mount or other desirable item has a very high chance of appearing in some sort of loot box, moogle tome or retainer venture and ending up worth peanuts. Even the cloth isn't really sacred and has appeared on Moogle events and some of the glam drops in PotD.

I'm not a fan of having no rare items worth hunting for.

If you don't want to rely on RNG then that's how it works. Other people are taking the time/risk and you get the item in exchange for gil. This annihilates the whole RNG requirement and thus the thing you have a problem with is no longer a problem. Now, we've moved the problem to "I feel this thing is too expensive", which... I dunno, deal with it. There's far more expensive stuff in the game and it's in fact the key to a healthy player economy.

This annihilates the whole RNG requirement and thus the thing you have a problem with is no longer a problem. Now, we've moved the problem to "I feel this thing is too expensive", which... The prices for Boarskin maps on Midgardsormr is 39,901, Peisteskin are going for 38,985, Unhidden Leather are 289,999. Mariner Cotton Cloth is 84,649 and Dress is 131,993. And even though I could afford to buy enough so that I can get them checked off in my crafting log I'd rather not. I'm not even asking for a huge increase in their drop rate. Yet with your and others replies it comes off as though I'm asking for them to drop every map. This coming from a person who knows how abysmal the drop rate for the Lesser Panda is and who farmed Morpho for days only to end up getting one the day before they added it as a reward possibility from the Firmament. I still have the Arhat Fending gloves alluding me. But let me guess you and the others were also against it when snubble tuffs drop rate got a boost?

I feel your pain. That cloth was one of two major gil sinks required when I was completing my crafting logs. I think the cloth was selling for around 200-250k each at the time on my server. I had a lot less gil at the time, and you need around 5-6 cloths to craft all the gear. Perhaps more. I actually grinded through the RNG, and I needed just one more cloth, and it would not give it up. I told myself it wasn't a big deal, and I would just add the boarskin map to my daily routine, and sometimes would get a bonus attempt when getting an unhidden leather map. That routine went on for months without a drop. I finally said screw it and bought the last cloth I needed in defeat.

I know people will often say to just buy it; but sometimes it's not about that. Sometimes we simply want to beat the RNG.

So in 2 days you get enough maps to afford 1 piece of mariner cotton cloth or 4 days for 1 dress material. Sounds fine. In a little over a month you can get everything you want. If you're really Hell bent on getting them yourself in some kinda ironman playthrough where you're not allowed to use the marketboard then that's just a self-imposed torture.

I dunno why someone who complains about being bad with RNG would advocate to keep RNG involved in a 'solution'. Wouldn't you feel even worse if they doubled the drop rate and you still couldn't get any? I know I would. My proposed solution involves 0 RNG.

I don't care one way or another. Give it 100% chance drop, give it a .01% drop. It just seems like a problem with a very easy fix you can accomplish right now.
