I think this is really the main reason. I remember feeling INSANE when I first got into this game back in stormblood and like... there was no criticism of the game that was easily visible? And people were obsessed with worshipping the lead game dev? That has felt bizarre since day one because like... the game has had stupid stuff in it that entire time, there have been awful decisions made, but it still felt like nobody cared or said anything about it, and just made funny little xd cute :3 compilations of yoshi-p laughing at some joke, or pictures of him with a cat filter over his face, or something.

I do feel like the community is... much more critical of the state the game is currently though, which is nice. Maybe if this keeps up we can get another DEFINITELY NOT FORCED live crying session from yoshi-p that makes the whole community conveniently forgive him.

That's fine from the healer perspective, and I'd agree with it, but I'd also like a DOT caster like necro or time mage, and preferably one which uses darkness.

Curious how long you've been around the forums, because honestly, they've been a cesspool of negativity since forever. Even during some of the most highly-rated expansions like HW, come here? Nothing but bad-mouthing the devs. Heck, even Reddit - a place known for being negative about practically everything under the sun - is positive about FFXIV and EW.

The simple reality is that EW is seen far and away by the playerbase as a fun, enjoyable, successful expansion, and people are overwhelmingly happy about the current state of the game. Thankfully, the devs realize this and give little credence to the attacks and pathetic insults thrown around on the NA forums. Sadly, what happens is the small group of malcontents create an echo chamber here among themselves, and start managing to actually convince themselves that they represent the playerbase instead of the tiniest sliver of the minority that they in truth are.

I mean, just look in this thread at people declaring things as "facts" which aren't by any means, purely personal opinions, and ones in opposition to the opinions widely shared by the general playerbase. It's okay to be dissatisfied with something. But to call opinions as facts and make pathetic, puerile attacks on the dev team doesn't do anything useful.

When you refer to people on the forums as malcontents your credibility kind of goes out the window. I’m curious though how you’d react to the actual objective data people have put out on EW giving us less glams, less content etc overall. Considering this expansion has seen the largest downward curve of playerbase numbers since…..ever, there’s clearly issues, and i’m not sure how you can just ignore objective issues like the devs lying about hrothgar’s and their current hair situation. Also, you’re making it seem like the dev attacks are purely an NA thing, when in reality yoshi p making that letter asking for people to be nicer is due to the actions of the JP playerbase. So please, educate yourself before you start trying to claim your opinions as facts, something you yourself are bringing up as being a problem.

The ninja skill switch-about was weird, but Pitch Perfect changed absolutely nothing. I still have the Minuet/Pitch button where the Minuet button was AND where the Pitch button was, and press the different buttons according to which skill I'm using.

I'd support that too, I would just be exceptionally upset if SE decided to take Miasma, Bane, Shadow Flare, etc - DoT caster plague elements that SCH had and has lore around, and instead put them onto another job instead of returning them back to SCH. Especially if SCH stayed the same way it is now. ;_;

we are to blame for this we let SE keep sliding and sliding and not holding our ground at all. when living dead FINALLY got fixed instead of scolding them for taking THIS GOD DAMN long to do anything we just patted them on the back and said good job. what do you think this is reinforcing? cause i guarantee you it's nothing good. we didn't force players to get better and just shrugged and carried them though content anyways. when you can't even trust the playerbase to bait a cleave that would lose them 0 uptime in savage what do you think is happening in nomral/midcore content?

i've said it once and i'll say it again there's far too many people who want a walking simulator that they occasionally hit a button to clear, and want any mechanics dumbed down cause they have to think or take responsibility for forgetting it. the GAME is feeling less like a GAME with each expansion with the only real times it feels like a game again is in side zones, DD, or hardcore content (not just savages some EXes as well like susano for example). just like the social aspect of the game SE turning the game basically single player and people being afraid of even wiping once in normal content. you know when you wipe you TALK to the team figure out what went wrong or what you learned come up with a plan/fix the issue and repull repeat. what ever happened to that? why do we just sit here silently and not even engage with the other 7 people in trials/raids?

it's not just on SE and yoshi-p/dev team but it is more so on them cause they shouldn't have let it get this far or stuck to their guns with the HW changes and instead gotten rid of crossclassing and the damage typing system since they couldn't balance it well. but we the players are also still to blame partially. and i think alot of people don't wanna accept that fact.

I haven't seen anybody attacking the devs. I have never seen a single person attack the devs. If you think calling the devs incompetent, or even stupid, is an "attack"... what do I even say to you? This is why the community outside of the forums generally won't level any criticism against the devs, because doing so is seen as "attacking" them, and you'll get genuinely harassed or sometimes what you said will just straight up get removed, so people quickly learn to not voice any kind of negativity at all. There are exceptions, of course, but even then a massive part of the community will defend whatever the devs do, no matter what.

The community throughout the duration of Shadowbringers conflated bringing up the issue of Viera and Hrothgar hair/hats with harassment of the devs, despite it being obvious that something wasn't adding up and then fast forward to 2022 and all Hrothgar got were Karen and 2b wigs. Granted this wasn't everyone, but it was enough people defending that state of affairs that led to the results we ended up getting.

Viera got *some* hairs that don't fit that well, and others that look ok. A lot of unlockable styles are still missing.
