I'd like some official statement on exactly how this works, since their initial statement is confusing. Either you had to register the game and do a 90 day subscription before the 31 of may, or you just had to register it before that, but actually have till end of june to do the 90 day subscription.

    Since they say:
"a player must register his/her copy of the game no later than Thursday, May 31, 2012, and have subscribed for a minimum of 90 days beyond the conclusion of your free trial period." I take that as you can still subscribe in june and get the offer if you've registered your copy before 31 may, otherwise they should have written:

"a player must register his/her copy of the game and have subscribed for a minimum of 90 days beyond the conclusion of your free trial period no later than Thursday, May 31, 2012."

This is very simple folks, you will only qualify for legacy if you have a PAID subscription to the game by May 31st.
This is wrong. You need to have bought the game / created an account before that date. You don't necessarily have to have paid SE a single dime yet, you just have to do that before 2.0 goes live.

I'd like some official statement on exactly how this works, since their initial statement is confusing.
No official statement is needed. It's not confusing.

May 31st: Must have had account created.

Date 2.0 goes live: Must have paid for (not necessarily used) 90 days of game time.

When these conditions have been met you will be automatically notified and an icon will appear on the character select screen as well as in your square enix account.

Soon after my third month was billed, I got the notification. I imagine if you buy 90 days of time at once (via the 3 month billing option) that you will be qualified.

I take that as you can still subscribe in june and get the offer if you've registered your copy before 31 may
This is correct, and there should soon be people who can verify this (since there was a delay between when i paid and when I was notified)

    Here's an official response: (source)

A new player has, naturaly, not paid anything yet and thus has 30 days of free play. That means only after 30 days will he receive a bill that he can pay. So in order to achieve Legacy status, he has to have his game registered by the 31st of may.

Right. "Game registered" is the entering of your registration code into the account system. The paying for 90 days of game time can happen anytime between now and 2.0 release. (you might have wanted to quote the whole response, as the part you quoted is not the best part of the response)

May 31st was only the "buy the game" cut off date. It's NOT a cutoff for the paying for game time.
Those who input their FINAL FANTASY XIV-registration code (ie: CD Key or equivilant) by the 31st of May as well as pay the subscription for 90 days in advance after the end of the free trial period will fulfil the pre-requisites for the Legacy Campaign.

For once I don't think it was confusing at all! Somewhat of a rarity with SE really.

The german rep also makes an important point: If you've posted on these forums before June 1st, you've already met the requirement to have an account registered by the 31st.

The 31st of May date was the LATEST you could register for the game and pay MONTHLY to still get Legacy, You could register now and pay for 3 months and you'll be good.

No. the 31st was the cutoff date to register a copy of the game. It doesn't matter how much you pay SE now, if you registered on June 1st or later, you cannot qualify for legacy. Please don't spread misinformation.

Maybe you think we'll be playing 2.0 in 3 months or something, but that's not even accurate by the timeline.

You can't say that for sure unless you've tried it, no where does it say you cant obtain legacy right now if you paid for 90 days.

    Read This: http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...gn.html#legacy
Users with service accounts that have paid for at least 90 cumulative days
of subscriptions between January 6, 2012 and the start of Version 2.0 Beta
    testing are eligible.
You can pay for 90 days ANYTIME between now and then, the date was probably the latest possible date to register and pay monthly.
