Leveling is way to fast (Continued)

Hello again, I know I posed a thread a few days ago as it has gotten many replies good and bad. As there seems to be more players that like the easier grind to 50, there are still many of us out there that would like to see it just a little bit more challenging. I wanted to make a new thread so what I am about to say doesn't get lost inside of the constant back and fourth arguing in the other thread.

I'm sure a lot if not most of us have all played ffxi. In no way shape or form am I trying to compare this game to ffxi, but this game is a sequel in the series and should still hold some final fantasy backgrounds.

I have been trying to think of a good way to get the player base to agree on a good pace of leveling. This is probably impossible to do but hey, its worth a shot. We all remember when ffxi came out how long and tedious the grind was. Some liked it and some didn't, but over time ffxi became easier and easier to level. When looking into FFXIV one thing that scares me is that when we are starting off at such a fast pace, what will lie ahead?

The main point that I am getting at came with the launch of TOAU. With the addition of new zones and the teleport pad to different exp camps, we in a way have something like we have now in FFXIV. Compared to old ffxi TOAU brought in a new much faster way of leveling as you now could chain mobs well with a good party starting at lvl 55 in wajom woodlands. Levels 55-75 became much easier and faster and imo became more enjoyable because I felt they found a good happy medium for the hardcore and for the casuals. Yes if you let us hardcore players pick we would take CoP over TOAU any day but just for this games sake we want it a little bit more challenging than it currently is.

My question to the community out there is that if FFXIV was like TOAU from levels 1-cap wouldn't this be a good medium as for as pace goes instead of everyone just sitting around trolling each other all day? Hopefully this thread will get as many if not more replies as my other one and maybe just maybe they could be positive

let's see what 2.0 will bring i say.
currently the lvling is just fine, as content doesn't really focus on the lower levels.
maybe content will spread over a wider level range when 2.0 launches, and players will have more options to build up their characters besides simple mob grinding.

i think it's just more interesting being able to level up your character in various zones/dungeons/raids together with other players, while also having a challenge, and the chance to get rare loot to make lvling up your character even more worth it.
currently we don't have that, so there is no real reason to make lvling take any longer than it allready does, just get over with it and spam that Cutter's Cry for weeks to find out that drop rates suck hard lol.

    I don't think a 2nd thread is necessary♪

I enjoy levelling in this game, I like being able to level in a party or solo/duo and still make progress even when low-man unlike in XI's early days (I'm talkin' before FoV & ToAU).
Soloing back then was painfully slow unless you were SMN or BST and even then it could be slow depending on where you camp was.

In XIV if I want to level fast I'll party, if I want to take my time and just grind I'll solo or duo. I enjoy both but I do tend to gravitate toward solo/duo more.

Everyone in the community has a different playstyle; some like to just get it over with, while others like to take their time and relax. That's the beauty of the game, it caters to both.

If you think levelling is way too fast, you could opt for slower means to level for yourself in either solo or duo circumstances.

The beauty of XIV is that casual players can actually make progress here in little time, unlike in XIV where you had to put away a good few hours for a decent party (Not counting the seeking time which was absolutely awful depending on which job you were and if you couldn't make your own party)

I'm going to stop rambling for now♪

Act in such a way that you treat humanity, whether in your own person or in the person of another, always at the same time as an end and never simply as a means

Leveling is only fast when you get PLed. If you go by any other means it will take you time; spiritbond pace is also fine (at least with the current state of the game because there is no content for lv40-49 players (although endgame instances are 45+ no one will let you go in if not 50, and for good reasons))
But because you are complaining about the fast pace of leveling I'm going to assume that you despise these methods and are trying leves and other sort of options to level up and are still finding they are too fast. Would you mind telling us how much time it took you to get 1-50? Maybe try switching to just grinding solo and that might slow down the pace even more.

Leveling is not challenging. Making it take longer doesn't make it more challenging.

^ This. Exp Party isn't fun. We kill same things over and over like working in McDonald's we make same burgers over and over. If I want slower leveling SE better do something than killing same things for hours.

Increasing the time it takes to level also increases the availability of exp parties. The longer it takes the level, the longer people will remain in the prime exp party level range compared to more people. The more people still in your level range instead of being level 50, the more people will want to include you in exp parties. The slower leveling is, the more exp parties will happen. People might actually use the search function.

Um, for a continuation thread, wouldn't you want to fix the error of your last subject line?

    Leveling is way too fast.

The current subject sounds like a diet plan.

Also, it's not like this dev team is being true to the roots of the jobs anyway.
This game is not WoW; if you want WoW, go play WoW. If you get butthurt when people mention Final Fantasy XI, then shut up about WoW.

I see plenty of EXP parties. Not a valid reason to change the leveling curve. New levels are going to take progressively longer, so just leave the current ones alone.
