[Feedback] Combat Duties Where We Control Other Characters

While I adore these duties, myself... a lot of my friends find these duties to be extremely frustrating. And one of the biggest frustrations is that, particularly for controller players, it can be difficult to tell what your spells/skills actually do when you're dumped in the middle of a combat duty with a bar of skills you've never seen before.

One idea I thought of that would be relatively low-impact would be, at the start of a combat duty that has you controlling a different character, have a brief text popup that says 'would you like to review your <character>'s abilities?' and if you say yes, a text display showing the icon and the tooltip pops up on the screen that you can spend some time reading to prepare yourself.

Also it'd be really nice if your NPCs were actually listed in your 'party list' for these solo combat duties. Especially if you're playing as a healer lol

You have plenty of time to review the tooltips of the characters you're playing before you start. The enemy is programmed in those levels to not do anything if you haven't moved at all. They've got plenty of time to review the skills before they start fighting.

Nice of you to be elitist about this. "I was able to do it so everyone can. There's no need to help make it easier for peasants who are less than me".

    Not sure if bait but...

How is this elitist? All this person is saying is that the battle won't start until you have time to review your abilities and actually engage, rather than throwing you into it. This means that you have time to figure out how your kit works (especially now that you can move abilities around, my biggest bane prior!) and prepare accordingly. There's nothing saying "hey don't make it easier," just "hey, the same function you're looking for is there, just without flying text boxes."

I agreed with your original point a bit (I think that they should have something similar to the pop ups during Thancred Gear Solid quest), but nobody is being elitist. They explained that you have plenty of time to read them because the enemies don't do anything until you move.....

    Take it easy.

Like the others said, how is saying that what you're looking for is already there elitist?

That's not what Seera1024 said at all nor were they being elitist in their response. They simply pointed out the option to review your skills, which was your request, already exists. The game doesn't thrust you into combat immediately and you can take your time to learn the skills.

Only if you have a mouse I suppose.
People on the controller can't read the tooltip.

Yes you can: Hold down L1 and press R3 to bring up "Virtual Cursor" mode, and then you can mouse over things to read the tooltips... of course, to be fair, the game never really explains this that I know of; I found it out quite by accident. lol
