I know nothing of that game, but I imagine combat is vastly different from how it is here, a lot simpler I'd guess. Even Duty Support AI can only handle so much.except they could've actually make a good functioning pet system it's been done before. i loved PSO2s pet job combat and it would actually promote picking and choosing 3 seperate eikons/primals to cycle between instead of just here's ifrit garuda and titan for 90 levels :^). bahamut and phoenix could even stay as big boi can't change summons
More options would be nice, perhaps filling out all the elements. Maybe some day.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMO3...nnel=Evancross an endgame DPS trial using only one pet (alot of summoners do this since you can upgrade and alter each pet seperately the pet "system" itself is actually quite indepth but i'm talking purely how it works combat wise cause there's no way we're getting that indepth of a pet system for FFXIV)
https://youtu.be/mR6xYbxMtlk?t=701 an old summoner guide for the global release already at teh point he talks about the combat swapping pets using secondary skills to buff them the pets and how they function etc... (we were quite a bit behind JP on launch so this is similar to basically 1.0 combat)
we also could have alot of pets on our person at once and swap freely between them so it's not that big of a stretch to just make them forced summons for set periods especially since we only get like 3 abilities with each summon regardless

Ah yes, and let's forget there was a whole playerbase of old SMNs out there that liked the more complex gameplay style. Totally fair with them turning SMN into a toddler's toy for no reason in the process of reworking it...
Also, why change jobs to something else? To keep worrying about when that job will get shafted by the devs too?

I remember hearing how it was and that actually drew me towards the game. What I arrived to was not that. Oh well... What I did find was a job that was definitely broken and in need of fixing. Agree to disagree. What's done is done. Maybe think about how this can be improved instead of holding on to the past like it can ever be reclaimed.Ah yes, and let's forget there was a whole playerbase of old SMNs out there that liked the more complex gameplay style. Basically this. The job needed fixes and got them 8 years too late. There are a number of logical solutions that can resolve both the levelling experience and the endgame experience but none of them involve going back in time to what was widely considered an atrocious job - that Summoners themselves were the loudest ones complaining about.I remember hearing how it was and that actually drew me towards the game. The summoner community before 6.0: Ugh, pet A.I. sucks. I push the button and there's a good chance that the egi just won't perform the attack! I'd rather the spells get moved to the caster!Let's not act like the job wasn't actually broken before this change. Pet AI is and always has been terrible (in most MMOs) and that was a factor in the changes they made. All the DPS had to be shifted to the caster for it to be more consistent. Sure, there could be room for improvement, but it works way better than it did before 6.0. So it's not for you. Oh well. Over a dozen other options exist.
The summoner community after 6.0: Ugh, my carbuncle just stands there and doesn't do anything. Can we have it attack and give it a few spells so it's not useless?!
Some people are silly.
Personally, I love summoner right now. My dopamine rush comes from summoning Titan and doing the Titan phase because I enjoy the OGCD weaving and the faster rotation that makes it feel like most other MMO's with their faster GCD's. Titan is also a really cool primal and I love his opening attack. Pretty light is pretty. I also live for 60k ahk morn's. Just feels good to open with massive burst.
However, I 100% understand people's frustrations at essentially losing their job. Summoner is nothing like it was prior to the rework. They definitely should have handled this differently.
What they should have done is renamed old summoner, removed the primal theme, changed the pet to just a carbuncle and focused the job primarily on the DoT's with the filler dealing more damage based on how many DoT's the caster has out.
From there they could have given everyone who had a pre 6.0 summoner at L70+ a free job boost for these new summoner for those that wanted to play the new job that is post 6.0 summoner. (Which would be a completely separate job to the old summoner which has now been renamed to prevent confusion.)
But let's be real. Upset or not, coming here constantly complaining about the job isn't going to get you anywhere. Old summoner is gone and it's not coming back unless there are drastic changes made to the development team. (Ie. The removal of Yoshi-P.)
All you're doing is being miserable at this point. Either learn to enjoy Summoner as is, or play something else. There are plenty of job options out there for you.

Adorable creatures with unacceptable features!

"Sorry if you liked a gameplay style that no longer exists in the game now, tough luck bastard go play something else"
I'm sorry that getting ghosts from Egi Assault traumatized you so deeply that SMN had to be entirely lobotomized of all player/skill expression.

They really could take a job like BLM and turn it into 1 button spam job with a 30s dot and these people would still come out of the woodwork to praise how much smoother it plays with all that unnecessary jank removed, wouldn't they? And try to guilt trip every player who enjoyed BLM for trying to ruin their fun, gosh why can't you just play something else.
