If they're truly such a no go affair then the simple fact that the company is pushing them to begin with should be a major red flag. Especially with a push for 'story focused' NFT's in particular:

It's not happening until the big man at the top of the company says it is, then it will. Yoshi P has a boss. That said, they apparently took the recent NFT market crash pretty seriously, so they appear to be shifting away from NFTs a bit. They'll probably still try it, but maybe not at the magnitude they were planning on initially. We'll have to see what they mean by saying that they now plan to put the money they made from their recent IP garage sale back into their franchises. That could mean literally anything.

I too would have stepped down if I had to deal with someone who flirts with NFTs at every possible opportunity despite the (alleged) customer base voicing extreme opposition towards them. Granted there is no way to know what exactly led up to this decision, but that is probably one of the reasons. Also a chance that perhaps he's been instructed to oversee FFXVII after FFXVI is done because no else has proven up to the task of steering the direction of the mainline series, with Nomura being too busy with FFVII Remake and Kingdom Hearts 4.

Except it's been already confirmed there's no NFTs on the way for XIV, so all this does is muddle the conversation for no reason.
