Warrior is life.
WAR's kind of unweildy in dungeons now that the cone is gone - I'd recommend drk to have an easier time handling mobs.
Paladin is probably the most difficult to play well because of all the weird optimisations that simply aren't present in other tanks. Both of the tanks that are available from level 1 are easy to pick up and learn. They don't get that much harder going into the late game, either. If anything, the harder to learn tanks are probably DRK and GNB, with DRK being the one that is the most difficult to play due to having a lot of bloat in their kit. Gunbreaker is fun and sort of plays like a melee dps / tank hybrid, though it does have some rather interesting "clipping" issues on some skills.
Thanks all. I'll try Warrior. Mara was already being level before. I'm not aiming for high end. Duties and MSQ mostly. But as stated, I'm a dps main in games. So nervous of course. More so for tank switching in trials. lol.
WAR is a Tank/DPS/Healer inside of one job
DRK trades off survivability for bigger burst DPS
PLD/GNB have terrible rotations
Tanking is by far just as brain dead as any other job. It only requires a bit more thinking at higher levels. But simply leveling a tank is easy af, even in dungeons, AoE spam with a mitigation on trash packs. That's about it.. aside from that is positioning the boss.
It's basically dps, except all the mobs are attacking you..
Yes, the DRK has a Burst DPS opener, then it normalizes out
It definitely has way too many oGCDs
do u want to be a dungeon hero? warrior all the way, inner release and bloodwhetting will make u feel like a god
stay well away from GBR unless u want carpal tunnel
pali is kind of meh all round but visually very pleasing
DRK for serious raid content, self sustain is frankly irrelevant, ur co tank (unless it is another DRK) can help out easily and healers have plenty of pretty buttons for u as well
Dungeons, msq trials, guildheist. Duties. 'Causal' end. Even as dps I weren't raid, so never change on that end. lol.
I'll re-look at Warrior once I return. I'm taking a break and I sub to that other game no one likes, trying their warrior.
My tankxiety is from not doing it and the idea of failing my group as well as leading the groupto doom.. Responsibility if you will.
And if Warrior goes well I'll look at Dark knight just for job story.
If you compare it to "that-game-no-one-likes" then tanking dungeons in XIV is basically a joke.Dungeons, msq trials, guildheist. Duties. 'Causal' end. Even as dps I weren't raid, so never change on that end. lol.

There is basically no leading your party, because all dungeons are just a straight corridors so you can't go the wrong way, whereas in "that-game-no-one-likes" you can.
The same pretty much goes for pulls, last time I played it "that-game-no-one-likes" could have some nasty trash mob combination if you pulled too many packs and they started to buff/heal each other, in XIV you can basically pull everything until you hit a wall and the worst that happens is you get some ground aoes.
