Getting an Error at launcher bootup

I think the steam version issue is due to steam web API being down for the past few hours.

I think it needs a flag from the steam web API to identify it as the 'steam version' of the game when trying to log in.

That's all I can think of, steam has been having serious issues this morning.

restarted steam.. store didn't load for a long time.. then when it finally did, they just started summer sale. this did not fix the FFXIV launcher problem by the way.

Seems like Steam kicked off Summer Sale and the Web API for steam is down, if this is what verifies our launcher then that's probably it.

It is absolutely tied to steam. When this happens there is a long pause while the launcher loads and it is performing what I am assuming a version check/checking to see if the account is linked to steam

after several seconds you will finally get the technical issue has occurred. I am currently experiencing the problem and I have tested logging in on two different computers, one that was working just fine when I logged out last night and another which I haven't used for the game for a week or so.

In both cases this failure occurs. it is not installation specific.

Same issue here - Steam store is very slow right now also. I'd really like a way to ditch the Steam version - this is not the first time an issue with Steam has prevented logging into FFXIV.

yeah same i even completely uninstalled the game and deleted the folders, flushed my dns cache, restarted pc and nothing

check in the mogstation the expiration date.

Huh? where would i find that in there? o.O and im subbed for like 2 years so not sure what to look for?

Looks like the Steam Summer Sale has killed the launcher for FF XIV users. I don't think SE can help us now. It's up to Valve.

Except not have made us link the game/launcher to steam account in the first place but that ship has sailed.
