Getting an Error at launcher bootup

So I play through Steam, and as I'm trying to launch the game I don't even get to the standard launcher. I instead get the section of the launcher that acts like I'm trying to link/activate an account/key. But the only text on screen is "A technical issue has occurred"

Idk if there is a steam outage or issue, or what, but I'd really like to play my game.

What have you tried to alleviate the issue? Could you try uninstalling the game and deleting the installation folder? Once done please reinstall the game directly through the Steam Library.

I think the steam version issue is due to steam web API being down for the past few hours.

I think it needs a flag from the steam web API to identify it as the 'steam version' of the game when trying to log in.

That's all I can think of, steam has been having serious issues this morning.

restarted steam.. store didn't load for a long time.. then when it finally did, they just started summer sale. this did not fix the FFXIV launcher problem by the way.

Seems like Steam kicked off Summer Sale and the Web API for steam is down, if this is what verifies our launcher then that's probably it.

Same issue here - Steam store is very slow right now also. I'd really like a way to ditch the Steam version - this is not the first time an issue with Steam has prevented logging into FFXIV.
