    UI Mods Lawsuit

Again, I believe Square Enix and FF14 have been extremely patient with certain gaming communities involving mods, leaks, and etc. However, it\\'s 2022 and other MMO gaming companies are taking action, and bringing these individuals to justice and prosecuting them in court like with Activision (Call of Duty) vs CxCheats.

    https://www.pcgamesn.com/call-of-duty-warzone/cheats-activision

A quote from the article, "CxCheats offered an array of methods*for cheating and hacking your UI, from aimbots to making your radar bigger, with cheat menus retailing for $60, all of which have been removed from the store."

I believe this prosecution is very similar to Square Enix case and FF14 gamers broadcasting illegal UI mods and leaks. I also believe Square Enix should go after these individuals and websites hosting these illegal mods and leaks like Square Enix has done in the past with leaks of Deus Ex in 2011.

The lawsuit relates to a commercial mod for a pure pvp game. The mods for Ffxiv are as far as I am aware not commercial products so this is not the same at all.

I agree, I want to see more companies go after fans that love the IP so much they go the extra mile to make it better! If we are going to burn it down, let's do it in one fell swoop!

Indeed , and they also arent "illegal" as OP stated . SQE are not a government nor a governing body . Mods are simply against their terms of service and it doesn't make the "illegal" in the slightest.

Are you suggesting I dislike plugins?

If you are , you would be incorrect.

Regarding the mods/cheats, it's the fact that they were selling the "cheat menu," not necessarily because of the mere existence of mods/cheats.
As for the leaks, they literally accessed a protected, secret portal stole a copy of a demo that was given to the press.

Those are very different things than what the general community for FFXIV is doing, to the point where there is basically no comparison to be made.

    Blizzard UI Mod Lawsuit

We also have a case in 2017 in which Blizzard (World of Warcraft) sued and won $8 million that is very similar to SE and FF14 gamers illegally providing, broadcasting, and using mods, bots, and leaks

A quote from this article, "The “Honorbuddy” program lets a bot do all your work in World of Warcraft from leveling, farming resources and even playing in PVP."

You had to pay for honorbuddy, hence you were profiting off of another thing while breaking their ToS. They had the law behind them since it's fair game once you start charging. Look at Team Xecuter, piracy is a whack a mole game but they turned piracy into a racket and they got busted, simple as that.
