Seems the Japanese Data Center is coming at the same time.

do we need new worlds?
Are all servers congested already?
I thought the problem was unequal distribution.

They certainly do in Europe it had some of the worst log in issues. I have characters on Spriggan on Chaos and look forward to new servers to help distribute and grow the DC's.
Japan DC only looks like a reorganization with no new worlds. There are 32 servers and they're adding a DC to make it so each DC has 8 servers. Wonder if Chocobo is going to be moved given I have a character there with a few friends (taking her through story now she's in Garlemald).

I see. Good for you then. They certainly do in Europe it had some of the worst log in issues. I have characters on Spriggan on Chaos and look forward to new servers to help distribute and grow the DC's.

Yeah, Jpn is more redist. I remember 2 worlds getting taken out of my DC xD
heh no. They'll still be in the old populated Data centers.
So there should be no difference in queues
while OCE was completely new DCs, hoping to be filled with the OCE population from JPN DCs.
Which apparently aren't exactly that many.

You can check whether Chocobon moves to Meteor or not. They released that info in the last live letter and the summaries are up on the Lodestone and forum.
And, yeah, EU is not empty and you don't start combating congestion when it has already occurred. You try to prevent it. I'm sure we would have had these worlds for Endwalker if the hardware had been available.

I do not know how the situation is on JP servers. But EU servers are ~50% more crowded than JP servers. EU-Shiva is full in the evening so you cannot create new characters.
And i guess, they want to avoid a second EW-situation with 7k-ish queues in the future.
Cheers
just checked, and half of the world in all jpn data centers are unavailable for character creation.
As I post this 7 hours later, every JP world is available for new character creation.
Character creation restrictions are impacted by population logged in during regional peak/off-peak hours. They're trying to keep higher loads somewhat evenly distributed if they can.
The April Lucky Bancho census had active NA population estimated at about 809k characters across 24 worlds (34k per world average).
Active EU population was estimated at 362k across 12 worlds (27k per world average).
Active JP population was estimated at 509k across 32 worlds (16k per world average).
(Hard to say how many actual players for each since there's no way to verify which characters are alts via the Lodestone API. Also, those numbers don't include characters with a highest job at level 60 or lower since there's no way to separate the free trial characters from characters on accounts with subscriptions. Free trial accounts may increase the numbers significantly.)
